Discus and support External hard drive help!!!! in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; I bought a Seagate back up plus 3tb usb 3.0 and im trying to save my games and apps on it but when I put it in it keeps saying external media storage...     I bought a Seagate back up plus 3tb usb 3.0 and im trying to save my games and apps on it but when I put it in it keeps saying external media storage ready and not saying anything about formatting the drive to save games and apps. Need help please!!!!

    You're still going to end up formatting it on the Xbox anyway....

    External hard drive help!!!!

    I am having this exact same problem with the 2TB slim version, and yes I already tried all the tricks on the other threads and troubleshooting. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    I am also having the same problem. I bought a brand new Seagate 3.0 USB 2 TB external hard drive, even formatted it on the computer, and the Xbox says "External Media Storage Ready" when plugged in.

    Are you using the internal drive or an external hard drive? If you are using an external drive try moving the game to the internal drive to see if that helps.

    Hi there,

    I would advise getting a different external drive like a usb flash drive that meets requirements and use that as storage.

    The problem you are experiencing could be caused by the hard drive just bearly meeting the required specifications, that's likely why it is getting hot.

    Be aware that you will need a usb flash drive with atleast 16Gb to be used with GTA V

    For disc based games all you will need to do is put the disc back into the console and it will re install the game and if online the console will also download the game updates as well. As for games purchased through the online store if you go to My Games
    & Apps on the console on the left there should be a ready to install section where you can re download these games from.

    As for game saves as long as the console is kept online these should be stored on the Microsoft servers and will be downloaded again when required
