Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

Thanks for posting! Your save files cannot be transferred to an external storage device as they are also stored up in the cloud and stored locally on the
internal drive. The external hard drive just houses games & app installs specifically. If you are able to boot back up, try a

Factory Restore on your Xbox One to see if that helps with the external hard drive issue. Be sure to select 'Reset and keep my games & apps'!

If the issues persists, the next best step will be to follow our
Xbox One External Storage troubleshooter. If the external hard drive continues to cause similar issues, you will want to reformat the drive on your Windows PC and then reformat for 'Games & apps' on your Xbox One console.

Not sure what you wanted to do here, could you elaborate?

As for external hard drives, you can't partition them for use as both external storage for games and for use with your Mac or PC. You can use an external hard drive on the Xbox One as a media drive, though.

If you format an external hard drive for Xbox One games storage, the whole drive is formatted and the file system is changed.

Have you used the External hard drive on any other systems? (PC maybe) if so this caused the hard drive to be incompatible with downloading games and you must reformat the external hard drive.
