    and found this at GameStop ( http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-one/accessories/xbox-one-media-center/127310) .

    My Xbox has a hard time finding the drive and when it does it states I can only add music, shows, etc. but not games. I am not seeing anywhere to format the drive like previous users have stated here and on YouTube.

    I was able to format the drive separately before plugging into my XBox.

    What can/should I do to have the XBOx "popup" automatically to format to be able to save games to it?

    External hard drive help!!!!

    I am also having the same problem. I bought a brand new Seagate 3.0 USB 2 TB external hard drive, even formatted it on the computer, and the Xbox says "External Media Storage Ready" when plugged in.

    External HDD re-format

    Once an external hard drive is formatted for games and apps, can it be re-formatted back to media? I have changed my mind on using my 2TB drive on my box.

    It sounds like you may have accidentally formatted the drive as a media storage device for the Xbox 360 instead of a regular external hard drive. To use the external hard drive as a regular storage device on your computer, you may need to reformat it.

    Here are the steps you can follow:

    Connect the drive to your computer

    Go to Disk Management (search "disk management" in the start menu)

    Locate the external hard drive and right-click on it

    Select "Format" and follow the prompts to reformat the drive

    Once reformatting is complete, you should be able to use the drive as normal on your computer.

    Note: Reformatting will erase all data on the drive, so make sure to back up any important files first.

    If you have a Windows PC, connect the external hard drive to it and give it a reformat. Sometimes, people need to give a hard drive an extra reformat on the computer because it's currently in a format that the Xbox cannot change (for some reason).

    - Connect the external HDD to the PC.

    - Go to "My Computer" (Win+E)

    - Right click the external hard drive, and select "Format..."

    - Ensure it formats to "NTFS", leave all other settings the way they are.

    - After it finishes, attempt to format the drive on the Xbox again.

    NOTE: If your external hard drive came pre-formatted with more than one partition, you will need to reformat the entire drive so it has one and only one NTFS partition. You can manage disk partitions via "Disk Management" in Windows.
