    Hi,

    I am looking into a new external hard drive for my Xbox one but before I purchased I wanted to know if an external drive that I format for my Xbox will also work to backup my PC?

    Old External hard drive and a new xbox console

    We had added an external hard drive to our XOne (Because internal was filling up.) had no problems. Our XOne died and we replaced the console. Can we just plug that external drive into the new console? will it cause problems? Will we have to reformat
    it and then need to reload all the games and there are lots of them. anything I should know before plugging in? any advice or info will be appreciated.

    Ori and blind forest crashes at startup one x

    Hi... I have a xone x scorpio edition and works fine but ori and blind forest crashes at startup on moon studio logo or after... The game kick me to dashboard.... I have tried internal or external hard drive same problem.... Anyone?

    External Hard Drive for XOne and PC?

    No you won't be able to use it for anything besides the Xbox One. If you use it on your PC when you hook it up to the Xbox One it will want to format it wiping it clean. If you use it with the Xbox One your PC will want to format it as well.

    There may be a way of partitioning a drive that would let the Xbox One use it and still have a readable partition that your PC might use. If I was using it as a a backup drive for my PC I wouldn't take the chance that next time I plugged it into my Xbox
    One or after a system update it might wipe it.

    I would get two drives one for the Xbox and one for your PC backup.

    Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

    Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

    Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

    Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

    If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

    Not able to install games on 2TB external hard drive

    Have you used the External hard drive on any other systems? (PC maybe) if so this caused the hard drive to be incompatible with downloading games and you must reformat the external hard drive.

    Internal or external hard drive? if it is external try to connect it to the PC to see if there are any damaged partitions. if it's internal, try doing a hard reset on the xbox
