External hard drive crashes and resets my xbox one on startup

So I am currently using a 1tb Samsung M3 Portable, and I have a lot of games on it from my Xbox One. Even though I have seen a lot of problems with my xbox one that could be pointed towards it being faulty, I have never really blamed it on that as the only
cause, until this morning however. This morning I got up to play some Battlefield, as you do, when I load my xbox up, and the start up screen starting to kind of jolts rapidly. After doing this for about 2 or 3 seconds, providing a horrible noise, it just
resets. The thing with this is that it doesn't seem to turn off. It doesn't really seem to do anything, apart from turn from the startup screen to a black screen in a matter of seconds. Then it will automatically load back up to the startup screen once again
and do exactly the same. The xbox logo will appear, and then it will crash, making a horrific noise, going straight to a black screen and then straight back to the startup with a gap of about 4 or 5 seconds. But when i unplug the drive, it will load it perfectly
and nothing will go wrong.

I have really struggled to come up with anything that could fix this and I really haven't found anyone else online with the same problem. I have tried hard reseting the console, turning everything off and plugging the drive in and then starting it up again,
plugging the drive in at the home screen (which will reset the xbox on the spot when the xbox recognises the device). I would just really like some help with this, due to my internal hard drive having very little space left and I want to keep both the games
on my internal and external drives.

On my XBO Elite, the game crash at startup on Moon studio logo. But after transferring the game on the USB 3 external hard drive everything is just fine.

External hard drive problems

I was playing Xbox one evening and my console froze, so I restarted and tried playing again, most of my games were installed on my external hard drive. I tried playing every game I had on my external hard drive and none would start.

I completely reset my console and external hard drive, i installed games on my internal hard drive and they all work, but the games I installed on my external hard drive still do not work.

 

I have this exact same problem. Have you resolved it?

I am having this same problem! So far there doesn't seem to be a solution.

 

I had the same issue with my seagate drive was working perfectly for 2 years and today all of a sudden its started crashing the xbox unfortunately the only thing that fixed it was connecting to my pc and reformatting the hard drive now its back to normal
only thing that sucks is that i had most of my games on the drive and have to reinstall every one of them god help us all until project scorpio comes out next holiday season
