External hard drive coming next month COMFIRMED

That's a shame, hope they address this or confirm either way. I assume you can push, but not handy if you want to browse digital media. I imagine it will be an update somewhere along the line.

External Hard Drive is for Games & Apps only at the moment.

 

Yep, you can play media on the One by pushing it to the device. I believe there is a phone app that acts as a middleman, meaning you don't have to keep going to your PC in order to push the media to the One.

 

I'll never need any more than what I have. I try to avoid digital and I delete my games and trade them in once I'm finished.

 

I have about 80GB left and that would be lower if I didn't get rid of BF4 & 2 other disc based games.

The games I'm willing to remove aren't that large to begin with.

Basically what I'll be doing is getting an external to have as a backlog storage, I don't want to keep the thing plugged in the whole time.

So the in console HDD will be for all current games I'm playing.

If what I saw and heard on the video to the "Major Nelson" link by the OP is correct. You'll have to use up all external HDD space before the 500GB Internal HDD can be used. So, unless I am wrong. Plugging an external HDD, in and out of the Xbone will not
be an option.

That is true, LTA. So somewhere along the line, there is a contradiction of sorts that will have to be addressed.

It did say you could copy games from external to internal or another external, it just defaults installs to external if plugged in.

 

TV recording would be epic.

 

Video showed it default to external, but there was an option to keep internal as default right next to it.

 

So they are finaly adding external drive support, but i dont see anywhere that we can even use it for music or vids yet? WTF?

 

One step at a time, they said they would do it, is just going to be a bit longer.
