    External hard drive and expansion packs


    Hi! I bought games that came with expansion pack disks. Most said I needed a hard drive to install it, so I went and bought an external hard drive. Everything seemed to work fine, but when I put in the disk to download the pack it still said that I needed
    a hard drive, even though the external one is plugged in and has plenty of space on it. Is there any way to solve this problem? Thanks !

    seagate 4TB not recognized

    Hello,

    I have this external drive:

    It works on my PC no problem, but the xbox one does not know it exists. Plugging it in does nothing. I have tried:

    * all the steps in the official troubleshooting guide

    * All USB ports on the xbox, hard reboots. ( it is fully updated also )

    * formatting the drive clean

    * removing the existing NTFS partition completely.

    this is the drive:

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    edit: some games will download content on it no problem, like shadow of mordor, but others won't, like Dragon Age Inquisition. If I borrow someone else's xbox, download it on its hard drive and then transfer it to my external one, will it work?

    Did you go into the settings menu on your console and choose the external hard drive as the storage option?

    I did, I think it's more of a license problem. My friend downloaded it on her xbox hard drive and transfered it to the external one and it works just fine. Anyway, thanks for your help I think I'll just have to ask my friend from now on External hard drive and expansion packs :)

    I searched all the places I could and there was nothing helpful about external hard drives. It seems the only problem is that these games need one made specifically for xbox to download. But it works if I transfer it on my hard drive, so i can play just
    fine External hard drive and expansion packs :) Just going to add that internal hard drives for Xbox are much less trouble if you wanna play these kind of games and probably as expensive, in case someone was thinking about buying an external one. Thanks for your help! Not many people try to help,
