    USB Hard Disk

I am wondering how to access content on an external USB hard disk. Is it possible to play videos from USB Hard Disks on the Xbox One?

  5. Try putting your console in Powersaving mode first (you will lose some features but it will make your Xbox run faster)

More info on what changes when doing so can be found here support.xbox.com/xbox-one/system/learn-about-power-modes

    After that

    • Go to the Home screen.
    • Press the Menu button on the controller.
    • Select Settings.
    • Go to Power & startup.
    • Unselect the checkbox next to “When Xbox is off, turn off storage”

No once an update is applied you can't go back

Also make sure you don't have a surge protector connected to your harddrive or xbox as this might also be causing the issue

    Hi samir tian,

Sorry you're still having issues with your hard drive. If you watch your hard drive is the power going on and off? Normally there is a light on the drive, sometimes is blinks for read/write, and stays solid for power. Or there could be separate power / read
write lights. If it's going off and staying off that means it's losing power or not working correctly.

The first thing I would do if you're done the power steps that Feared suggested would be to switch USB ports on your Xbox. If the drive is powered by a plug, then try plugging the hard drive into another outlet, or place on your power strip (make sure the
Xbox stays plugged into the wall.

If you're still having issues after doing those steps, then if you don't mind reinstalling all your games, plug the drive into your computer. Format is NTFS so Windows can see it, and try using it in your computer (WARNING: this step will erase all your
installed games). After it's in your computer, try copying some large files to it, maybe find a couple of videos you made with your phone or something can copy those there too. Try playing the content and make sure it plays and does not stop. If all that works,
then pop the drive back in the Xbox and set it up to use as an external drive again.

Try putting your console in Powersaving mode first (you will lose some features but it will make your Xbox run faster)

    Energy-saving power mode

In energy-saving power mode, your console is shut down to save energy. In this mode:

    • Updates are not downloaded and installed until your console is turned on.
    • Your console takes 45 seconds to start up.
    • You must press the Xbox button to start the console.
    Notes

    • In energy-saving mode, the PSU is in off/standby mode and the solid orange LED on the PSU is bright.
    • The console uses 0.5 watts of power when in energy-saving mode.
More info on what changes when doing so can be found here support.xbox.com/xbox-one/system/learn-about-power-modes

    After that
