    External Fantom Drive Issue


    I can see the external hard drive in my manage storage. It is flagged and formatted as games and apps. I am able to move apps over super easy but everytime I try to move a game it fails about 1MB in... almost like it doesn't know where to put it. The manufacturer
    is "fantom drives" and its a 2 tb seagate.

    Anyone able to know why it works fine for apps but not games. It is formatted for apps and games.

    Not sure why this would happen,

    First try contacting
    customer support

    Try performing a full xbox shutdown and or restart, see if it works after that

    If that doesn't help and you have a PC you could try reformatting the drive, and then have xbox format it again. THIS WOULD ERASE ALL DATA, you would need to transfer games and apps back onto it from your xbox or redownload.

    I have not had this problem and don't know if any of these will work but its worth trying.

    I am having the same exact issue since had game updates at end of March. External Fantom drive that uses a a Seagate Firecuda SSD 2TB. This all started from Microsoft last xbox update. Fantom Drives and Seagate are aware of problem, Microsoft playing ignorance.

    Has anyone been using a seagate backup plus fast?

    You may very well get better performance with an external if you go with a significantly faster external than the internal but the problem is they aren't designed for it.

    Fantom is a well known for their external drives and it's a quality product (plenty of reviews online). If your going to use an external for gaming then the Fantom has a big advantage,,,huge vents, Cooling with an external is an issue when gaming off it.
    Dropping 250 bucks on a external and having it a fail from overheating would be painful.

    Will a 4 terabyte hard drive kill my Xbox one x?

    I do not see any reason why a harddrive that has its own power source would kill an xbox one. I have two different external hardrives plugged into my xbox. I have a Touro's SSD 1T (power comes from the xbox) and a Fantom Drive 6T (own power source).
    I have never had any issues. Several of my friends bought the Fantom Drive and have had no issues.
