External drive

    External drive


    I have an external hard drive with half my games in it and it works perfectly fine. Recently as in the past few months or so, it's not letting me play games from it anymore even though the drive still works perfectly fine. It's saying I can't play it from external storage and that i have to transfer it. Is there anything I can do about it and why is this happening?

    Xbox One Digital Download Transfer

    1. Plug external hard drive into Xbox One with good connection.

    2. Download games.

    3. Unplug external drive.

    4. Take external drive to Xbox One with bad connection.

    5. Plug external drive in.

    6. Play games.

    7. Say thank you.

    Note: External drive needs to be USB 3.0 and have 256GB of free space.

    Is this game stored on your Internal Storage or External hard drive? If it's on your External Hard drive kindly move it to your Internal Storage then remove the hard drive. This is to check if it's due to the external hard drive.

    Having the same issues. Could be something to do with the external hard drive maybe, not had time to troubleshoot yet though.

    Some ideas to try maybe?

    1. Make the Xbox One drive the primary drive, while the external drive is still plugged in

    2. Try with the external hard drive unplugged

    No idea if this will make a difference, but this issue only started for me since I got an external drive. Unless others are having the same issue with no external hard drive?

    If you have an external hard drive could you try deleting a game and installing it directly to the console's hard drive to rule out issues with the external drive itself?
    I am not using a external drive :(

    How to move(transfer) ALL my content from the existing XBOX ONE(500Gb) to a new XBOX ONE(1TB)?

    My suggestion would be to purchase an external HDD drive and move the games from the internal drive to the external drive. The drive has to be USB 3.0.
