    External drive media streaming

    Hi everyone,

I'm trying to come up with the best way to watch all of my downloaded movies through my Xbox one onto my tv. What I want is to have an external hard drive permanently connect to the xbone via USB 3.0, and then be able to add movies and such to the drive
from PC in another room to the drive wirelessly.

Is this even possible? Google searching this topic is driving me insane. It keeps landing me on portable storage for iPhones and tablets.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated

    :)

    Play videos on burned discs

I've put a disk in and none of the apps even see the optical blu ray drive let alone any media files on it. The blu ray player app does play media on a blu ray disk that is in the proper blu ray format, but VLC, or even the file explorer app do not even display the optical drive. I can play media on an external drive using VLC.

    Xbox One & Macbook

Can anyone give me a bit of advice on this.

I currently have all my media stored on my Macbook and have being using Sofaplay to stream to my Xbox One however it rarely works consistently and is incredibly frustrating.

Is it possible to have an external hard drive connected to my Xbox via USB to store and play media and also have the ability to wirelessly add/remove media to that hard drive from my Macbook?

If it is possible any recommendations for suitable drives above 1TB would be appreciated or if it's not possible any alternative solutions?

    Thanks!

I no with Windows 8.1 you can right click on movie and it brings up option to play on Xbox one. I have done this and it works great. I have only added a 3 terabit hard drive to save games on

Downloading or transferring media onto xbox 360.

only if said media is on a flash drive or an external drive set up to run on a 360 or you can stream it from the laptop as well.

    Media from an external USB?

Unfortunately there is no media support for external USB drives yet. We hope that this will be coming in one of the next dashboard updates. Until now it is only possible to stream media from a PC or laptop with at least Windows 7.

    Not enough space problem

Are you using long file names you gotta remember this ia a console not a computer

Also xbox internal atorage isnt meant for media files except for captures

Why not use an external drive

Youngotta remember consoles need reseeve space to keep the performance up

If you are talking about files bigger then 4 gigs that would be a problem

You gotta remember media drives are meant to be storedin fat32

    Not xbox internal hd

Small downloads and media captures are fine

Not complete movies except for ms store

Most people use external hdds or streaming

Its probably more about the reserve space for media captures or.ms store purchases

As mentioned you arent using the internal hd as intended

Your best bet is streaming via computer or using an external media drive
