External Drive Issues on Xbox One X

Ever since I upgraded from the Xbox One to the Xbox One X I am constantly having issues with any games I try to play from the external drive. Never had any issues with the original Xbox One. When I start the few games I have tried (WWII and Sniper Elite
    4) I get stuck with update messages for updates that do not exist. On WWII it gave me the message on every startup of the game and would then have to restart the game for an update that does not exist before I could play. The Sniper Elite 4 would give me an
update message that I could never update so it would not even let me start it at all. In order to play both without this hassle I had to move them back to the internal and the issue was mysteriously gone.

Anyone know what the cause is and why it happens? I will eventually run out of space if every game has to be on the internal drive.

    :)

  2. Hard Drive Question

The Xbox One X has a 7200rpm internal hdd - Xone and S use 5200rpm. This makes little difference running games, but, but initial loads may be slightly slower on an external 5200 drive compared to the internal drive of the X, but
    it depends on the game.

I'm getting an Xbox One X and I still intend to use my 1TB external drive for a while yet as it worked fine on my original Xbox One.

I would suggest as a work around to uninstall and reinstall games.

But, first check if games and apps updates aren't filtered to block out non-xbox x enhanced. That seemed the default view.

I have the same situation, I got an Xbox X back on Xmas.

You may just not be seeing updates that are available due to the viewing filter. I remember having to do that.

If that doesn't work uninstall re-install. If on metered connection do it during low usage hours. I have a friend on Satellite internet that forces her to do downloads at 1:00 am unless to prevent overage charges.

Thanks, I will look and see if there is some setting I am missing. Between this and the speaker echo I get when going through my surround system speakers there are a few annoying things about this "upgraded" console. I tried about every sound setting i could
think up this weekend and the echo persists.

xbox series x seagate from xbox one not showing any games when plugged into the series x

    Hi,

Do you still have your Xbox One and does your external hard drive still work on that console?

I have successfully connected both my Seagate 'Game Drive' and my external SSD USB 3.0 drives to my Series S without any problems. All my installed games show up fine.

The Series X/S supports the same external drives as the Xbox One/S/X support. If your drive isn't being detected it's probably become corrupted or has a hardware issue.

    External hard drive

    Hi,

I think you might need to format your external hard drive for it to work with your Xbox One X. If this is still possible for you, connect your hard drive to your ONE S console, Format the drive, then try it again on the ONE X. Hope this helps solve the issue.

    Happy Gaming!
