    External drive issue


    So on X-box my external hard drive anytime I try to install or update it doesn't work. It installs... stops and then a pop up from the bottom of my screen appears saying that the installation was stopped. Then go to the next thing and the message would
    appear again. Before Monday I had 1.5 TB out of 2 TB on external hard drive. Funny thing was even games that were downloaded and I tried playing them. A error message would appear that they needed to finish downloading with error
    code 0x80070570 popping up.

    The game was downloaded to the external hard drive. Wednesday I found out it might be possible to fix this issue if I just reformat it. However that didn't help at all it just deleted all my games. I moved around the cord to different plugs. I even bought a
    new cord and when that didn't work. I Bought a new external hard drive. Guess what it works. So does downloading them to the internal hard drive. However even though the old hard drive appears on the x box lights up trying to download something on it is pointless.
    I've tried everything and I don't know what to do to get my games to also download on this old hard drive that has worked with my x box for years.

    If you have any idea on how to fix this please let me know.

    Having the same issues. Could be something to do with the external hard drive maybe, not had time to troubleshoot yet though.

    Some ideas to try maybe?

    1. Make the Xbox One drive the primary drive, while the external drive is still plugged in

    2. Try with the external hard drive unplugged

    No idea if this will make a difference, but this issue only started for me since I got an external drive. Unless others are having the same issue with no external hard drive?

    I checked the drive with my PC and it's fine. I did the hard reset and created my cache, didn't work. Tried new cables, nothing. The only thing I didn't try was connecting to a different Xbox because I don't have access to one. It still does 100% full and
    can't access any games (it was only 60% full before the problem started). I gave up hope and formatted the drove and it seems to be working now. I'm nervous to put much on it though for fear of the issue reemerging. This is the second time I've had to consume
    my bandwidth for a month to redownload my games. My Day One Edition Xbox had an internal drive failure and I was partially saved by having some games on the external drive. Now I have an Elite, but all the games that were saved last time around are gone...

    Happy to report doing a hard reset / cache clear while the drive was disconnected fixed it for me.

    Hey there Candlle Stickk, Happy New Year!

    I'm sorry to hear about the problem. I'd try the stems that x echo65 listed (different cables, ports, hard reset and cache clear) and see if that helps. Connecting the drive to a PC and checking its health with WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool could also
    give you some info if the drive is functioning properly or not. Here's a link to the tool:

    External Drive Issue

    Have a very similar problem. Can't move anything to the external ( the message will pop up saying it's full), can't uninstall games from the external (manage game will show the save file but not where it's installed or the install itself). Have done a hard
    reset, tried different cables, reformatted the drive. No change.
