  1. External drive for Xbox one

Im thinking of getting a external USB 3.0 hard drive for my Xbox one. Not just for more storage but for quicker loading times too.

Does anyone have a External hard drive they can recommend to me?

I have heard that it can also improve games that heavily stream from the harddrive rather than RAM. Has anyone noticed this?

    Thanks

    :)

  2. Potential Issue Regarding External Hard Drive Support?

When Microsoft announced the Xbox One would have external hard drive support, I bought a Seagate 1TB USB 3.0 external drive. It worked fine for a couple of months, but one day I turned the Xbox One on and it was as if there was no external drive plugged
in at all. I tried just about every method that didn't involve losing all the data on the external drive, but nothing was successful. The Xbox One just didn't see that the external drive was plugged in. As a last resort, I plugged the external drive into my
computer and reformatted it, then plugged the external drive back into the Xbox One. Voila, problem solved. The Xbox One instantly recognized the blank external drive and suggested setting it up for the Xbox One. Unfortunately I have to re-install all my games
now, but at least I still have an external drive. I was never able to figure out whether the issue was on the Xbox One side or the Seagate external drive side.

I don't think it will give you a performance improvement over an internal drive, if that's what you're asking.

  6. Any hard drive with it's own power supply and runs at 7200rpm should give quicker load times. It just means having a plug plugged in.

I'm using the Seagate one as well.

The one on Amazon spins at 7200rpm.

Be careful because PC World sell a Seagate 4TB that runs at a lower speed.

4TB will keep you going for a long time.

    Xbox One Digital Download Transfer

    1. Plug external hard drive into Xbox One with good connection.

    2. Download games.

    3. Unplug external drive.

    4. Take external drive to Xbox One with bad connection.

    5. Plug external drive in.

    6. Play games.

    7. Say thank you.

Note: External drive needs to be USB 3.0 and have 256GB of free space.

As an idea for xbox one hard drives because they are internal and not external try plugging in an external drive to save or transfer all important games to external hard drive and leave not so important games onto internal drive
that way you can take them anywhere and not have hard drive failures with xbox one.

Are you running it off of the hard drive on the Xbox One or an external one? If you are playing off of the internal drive on the Xbox One then you may want to get an external for it because that is a known issue as far as the Xbox One hard drive and this
    game.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

    Let us know.
