External Devices (i.e. Sound Bar, WD TV Live, PC)

I have set up my XBox-One with a Toshiba SBX4250 sound bar. After a little bit of work I was able to get it to work to where it works properly and it powers on/off with XBox-One. However, I have a few outstanding / new issues:

    1. With the latest XBox-One update it claims that the volume increments can be customized. I have looked high and low and can't find where I would do that!!! Any ideas?
    2. With the sound bar being plugged directly into the XBox-One my external devices such as WD TV Live which is plugged directly into the TV has problem with sound. XBox-One continues to play the sound from whatever channel the cable box is on as expected.
There are no additional ports to connect the WD TV Live or other external devices to! The only thing I can think of is to use and HDMI switch to plug the external devices directly to XBox-One but that requires manual switching which defeats the purpose of
having total voice control. Clearly MSFT did not think this through not surprising though given their product. Anyone have an elegant solution for this?
    3. How can I copy home videos from my PC to my XBox-One for backup and playing?
    Thank you.

    Kevin

    :)

External Hard Drive interfering with HDMI signal?

Hello External Devices (i.e. Sound Bar, WD TV Live, PC) :)

Have you tested if that WD External drive works properly on a PC? Is that a WD My Book or a WD Elements Desktop drive?

I would consider testing the drive's health with
    WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic
and see if the device is operating properly.

Are you using the same power outlet to power both the console and the External Drive? I would try using different power outlets.

Xbox turning on & off cable box issue

Yes I am part of the update testers, but that was not causing the issue. My TV came with an external IR blaster that you would plug into it, capable of turning on all my devices (just like the xbox). Well I guess when I would turn on my xbox, the signal
was sent to all my devices (TV, Cable Box & Sound Bar), as well as the external IR blaster. so everything would turn on from the xbox, and when the external IR blaster got the signal it would send out a second signal, but it would only turn off the cable box.
I guess it wasn't strong enough for the TV, sound bar or to actually turn the xbox back off haha. O well the problem is resolved, I have unplugged the external IR blaster.

    Kevin,

    1. Settings > TV & OneGuide > Troubleshooting > Audio

    2. WD TV Live is it a safe guess that it is a Western Digital External HDD?

    3. Using the Xbox One as a storage device, not exactly. You are able to stream via Play To (through Media Player), OneDrive (cloud save formally known as SkyDrive), or via SmartGlass.

    Hope that helps

  5. Kevin - I recently purchased an Xbox One for use in a room with the same sound bar but haven't been able to overcome the issue of it not turning on or off with the Xbox even after entering the model number. Can you share how you were able to overcome the
    issue?

    Thanks,

    Aaron

Xbox not video not showing for Samsung Q90R sound bar

Are the Netflix and Disney Plus Apps installed on the TV itself (so the TV is the actual sound source), or are you using an external device for these Apps (like a Fire-TV Stick or other set-top box connected to the TV)?

You might have to contact Samsung support, so they could tell you if it's possible at all to get Atmos returned to the sound bar from an external HDMI source.

Since it costs an additional license from Dolby to return Dolby from an input to another output device, some TV makers won't allow certain audio signals to go from an external input to a soundbar or audio receiver, and only have sound that is produced by
the TV itself go to an external audio system.
