  1. Exteral HDD issue after UPDATE (game drive)

Has anyone solved this issue yet?

My Xbox one cannot access content on my gaming external HDD- 2TB WD Black 7200rpm.

I have read alot of similar threads but they seem to be related to media and not gaming.

    Drive was working fine.

Now the xbox sees the drive in storage (including space left) but when clicked it cannot access it and the
    internal content pops up instead.

    HDD is recognised on PC

I have been through the microsoft recommend trouble shooting steps, as well as-

    • changed cable/port
    • hold power button reset
    • differing combinations of power cycling / patching

    Still not working

I really dont want to format (will this fix it?)

Im not sure if my saves will be wiped

Have microsoft acknowledged this issue? I cant find anything official

Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    :)

Never ending issues with our Xbox One Consoles

The noise is not the HDD but your blu ray drive seeking data on the disc in it. It is a small bug introduced in the last update that means the disc is being erroneously read whilst you are sitting in a game menu. It should stop after about 10-15 seconds and then be fine.

It might get fixed in the next or a future update.

Lots of people have reported it to MS.

External harddrive for media not recognised by Xbox one

Could be an issue of compatibility, have you checked for driver updates for the HDD?

    External hard drive help

There's an ongoing issue with external HDD's after the last update.

Supposedly it's being worked on, but we've had no updates in days. Coincidentally, most people are reporting issues with Seagate external drives....

No Visible Game Updates With External HDD Plugged In

This did not address my question at all. My issue is NOT that I cannot play games off my external HDD. I am aware I can only play backwards compatible games of my HDD.

The issue is that the system will not show me any available updates for EITHER the backwards compatible games on my HDD OR the updates for the Optimized games on my internal drive when the HDD is plugged in.

LATEST UPDATE - CAN NOT INSTALL ANY DISC GAMES TO COMPLETION

does that suggest that the issue is with the hard drive itself?

why both machines after the OS update? and both unexpectedly

and why all of a sudden? usually when a HDD fails there are numerous tell tale signs before it crashes.

External Hard Drive read as media only

I'm sorry, but how does having a working external HDD then after an update a nonworking HDD constitute us having to do this BS?

I had a perfectly fine Xbox One with all my games on my external HDD and this morning after and update... A POS.

Please realize this is bigger than 1 person issue.
