Well, an extender is worse, but what counts in this matter is your experience.

Even though you're wired into the extender, the communication between the router and the extender is still 802.11 frames. So this could well be an issue related to coverage of your WLAN.

your laptop and cell phone have stronger reach for wifi. if it is the wifi extender that was out in 07, then it is either not strong enough range to reach your wifi, or their being just to many walls between your extender and the router. if you connect it
through Ethernet and still no connection then their could be an issue with the system itself

Right-click on the game in your library>properties>additional content and check if you can find the packs “MCC Reach Content Pack 2” and “MCC Reach Extended Language Pack'', select them and install. After that start the game and see if that solves the problem.

If the issue persists, I'm afraid you'll have to speak to the game developer directly.
