    Expiring microsoft points/currency - when?


    Hi,

    Few weeks(months?) ago I got a notification on my 360 console that the microsoft money converted from points would expire on June 1. Now, I've checked on microsoft website and I' confused because my billing details show the money is expiring Dec 1, 2016.

    "Any Microsoft Points you had remaining in your Microsoft account have been retired, and we’ve added to your Microsoft account an amount in your local currency equal to or greater than the Xbox stores’ value of your Microsoft Points. This value we added is
    promotional and will remain in your Microsoft account through December 1, 2016."

    Can somebody confirm what's gonna happen then? is my 'money' gonna disappear next week or am I ok until Dec 1?

    Just to clarify a point here. Currency that is converted from Microsoft Points does expire one full year after redemption. But any currency added to your account directly does not expire. So, just a recap: Points Cards = Expire after 1 year, Currency
    Cards = Don't Expire, and expiring currency is always used first.

    if your £30 have been added to your account by using a msp codecard this will expire after 1year.

    spending your funds would have used expiring amounts at first

    im pretty sure this was stated on System when they changed it from msp to currency

    Sorry to hear it. When MS Points were transferred to Currency there was an expiry date for them. The currency had to have been spent by this past July otherwise they would expire and could no longer be used.

    Currency added after the change have no expiry date so can be used when you choose to.

    Your converted points do expire, however, they will not expire until June 2015. This gives you a whole 15 months to use those converted points. I don't find that unacceptable. I'm pretty sure you have ample enough to time to spend that balance.

    Any new currency you buy for your account now will not expire. When you buy content, your account will use the currency with the expiry date first.

    Hello,

    Yes, this is the case. Any points that Microsoft converts to currency will expire on June 1, 2015 once they are converted. Any currency you add to your account via a Xbox Gift Card / Microsoft Account top up via a payment method will not expire.

    Sorry, but once currency expires, there is no way to get them back.

    Generally any sort of promotional credits expire about a year after you receive them unless stated differently in the terms of the offer. If you had money that expired on June 1, that was more than likely money left over from when Microsoft switched from
    the point system to the currency system 2 years ago. They made it known then that the currency would expire this year and they did send out notices about a month ahead of the expiration date too.
