    I went ahead and grabbed a year of Live since mine expired in December anyways.

    Games that are free with gold are only available to play *for free* if you have gold. Unsure if that is exactly what you are after.

    Do promotional Microsoft Points expire?

    Yes all promotional Microsoft Points do expire.

    If you received points between July 1 and December 31, they will expire on June 30 of the following calendar year.

    If you received points between January 1 and June 30, they will expire on December 31 of that same calendar year.
