why the hell do you even need a server dude? servers or dedicated servers is just a more powerful way to make a network performance easier and more performance for a PC. even if I was going to do that what do you think they make li8ke 16 gigabit switchs

just have your router in the middle of the place/rooms. I would recommend a 16 switch gigabit devices. now if you spend or have got like routers and and switchs that are like cheap as chips of mediocre then you will have problems.

make sure you have a beast of a router, one that meant for high performance not simple sharing. if your doing to be really close all 12 of you do it wired. wireless can interfere with each other. and make sure you collect everyones mobiles before they enter
XD. but if you have a beast router it should be able to easily do you lan wired or wireless cause if it notices interference some beast router will place connections on a frequency between 2.4 and 5Ghz automatically. also it better only be wireless N connections
for this to happen. so hopefully only slim consoles ???YES???

may I also recommend a very sexual and very fast brand called NETGEAR. now we do a simple sharing router $49 and we can run 5 wireless connections like all the time. the little thing gets any hotter it will melt wood. Now luckly its not at my own house.
if you get your first high performance at like $200 but it has no modem or your top of the line with no modem N900MB/s for $349. price may differ, also other thing my differ cause I am a bit high at the time. you set up your network with netgear 24/7 support
on there website and you can download a free app and monitor your network it doesn't get any better than that ladies and gentleman/.

You're leaving out the Live part
of this setup. Even if you're planning to use only System Link, the consoles may require access to The Internet to provide system or game updates. If this is for a LAN party you can't expect everyone's consoles to be updated, nor can you expect all the consoles
to have the latest Title Update for the game in question.



Wireless is a bad idea for 12 consoles in close proximity. Wired is a better option. Beyond that, you'd want a router that will allow 12 consoles to access The Internet at the same time. That means a router with robust UPnP support. The last time my friends
and I set up a 12+ 360 console LAN party, the router in use was an Asus model. It managed to hold up under the load.

Mike, if they are playing lan (which means they are using system link, not XBL), bandwidth should not be an issue as they are playing purely over the local area network.

Now, I'm not TOO experienced on this. But it all depends on your connection speed, as with this many Xbox 360's there's going to be a lot of bandwith being used and that's going to put a lot of stress on your server. But what I recommend is Getting a router
then Connecting it to one of the server's ports. and connecting a ethernet cable from your modem, to the main port on your router. Doing this will allow all xbox's to connect to the same router and into the server.

All you need is a router with 12 free IP address.

When you say they are going to be linked to a server is this for internet where the PC will be the gateway for the machines.

If you can not find a router with 12 ports for LAN then you will need to use a switch in between them that will hook to router.

If the server is running DHCP you will not need to use a router and a switch will work just fine.
