    Expansion Port


    The expansion port on the bottom of the controller fell inside the controller so nothing can be plugged inside it.

    Controller expansion port

    the port on my controller has managed to unattached it self from its original position. Is there a way to fix it

    Problems with the expansion port?

    Whenever I put the adapter into the controller, the adapter doesn't light up and when I plug my headset in no sound comes out. I have the Microsoft adapter as well as the Polk adapter that came with the striker zx headset and have the same problem with
    those. I've plugged the headset into my phone and works fine. Anyone have this problem before and know any solutions ? I just don't want to buy a new controller if there's an easy fix.

    Problems with the expansion port?

    Hey there!

    It sounds like you've done a fair amount of troubleshooting to narrow it down to your controller. Do you happen to have a second controller to test this with? That will help confirm if it is indeed an issue with that controller.

    In the meantime, I recommend cleaning the connector with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol and testing again.

    Hi RichardSellwood,

    That port that is next to the 3.5mm jack is the expansion port. This is for allowing a better experience with the controller by being able to attach a mini keyboard to the controller or a stereo headphone expansion. This is not a USB port and there is nothing
    that I have seen that will allow for turning it into a USB port.

    In order for your son to use the USB lighting function of the headphones (which I have as well), you would need to plug it into an actual USB port on the system or get a small USB battery that you can plug it into.

    Stereo Adapter

    I think you are wrong, with the headset adapter the jack of the headset is plugged into the adapter which use the expansion port on the controller to transmit the audio. The broken jack port on the controller will not be used anymore.

    As far as I know it is a Microsoft exclusive expansion port only used for chat pads and the stereo headset adapter.

    Wouldn't you just plug the external hard drive into a USB port on the console and then move the files to the expansion card?
