What is the largest internal Hard Drive Whether it be SSD or Regular and is it Sata 2.5? What is the best way to do a system back up with external hard drive before swapping internal hard drive.

Seagate just announced some 16TB's this week for $650 USD.

Opening the console will void your warranty and all that fun stuff, but you own the console so you can do whatever you like with it. You just can't talk about it here on these forums.

Another option is getting an external drive and connecting it via USB. Once your warranty is expired with the drive and the console you could shuck the drive and then you have an internal drive. :p

As Smwutches said, the internal HDD is not meant to be swapped or upgraded. The best thing you can do (and it's a lot easier IMO) is to simply
purchase an external hard drive and use that for extra storage, just make sure that it is USB 3.0 and 256GB or more.

The internal hard drive is not meant to be taken out and swapped, but you can always just buy an external hard drive for pretty good prices.

I know the console can work with most externals but personally I use Western Digital on Amazon you can them for a variety of prices.

    1TB- $44.99

    2TB- $64.99

    4TB- $99.99

    8TB- $179.99

The largest original built in hard drive size is 1TB. While the drive inside the console is a 2.5'' SATA drive, it's not meant to be replaced as others already said.

You would need special software to be able to prepare a new drive for the console as you can't just swap the drives, and the PC is unable to read the Xbox drive without unlicensed software.

Therefore, instructions on how to replace the drive can't be discussed here.

As for the Backup thing: You don't have to. All your savegames are stored in the Xbox Cloud, and only copies of these are stored on the hard drive. Your purchased games are also downloadable again for free.

So if your console breaks, and you get a new one with an empty drive, simply sign in with your Microsoft Account email that you used before, and your games will appear in the "Ready to Install" section of the new console. After starting a game, your save
game will be downloaded as well.

So there is no need to backup anything.

If you're looking to get more storage space, do NOT try to open the console to change the drive. Simply buy yourself a nice USB 3.0 compliant external hard drive (or SSD), and connect that to the console. You can connect up to 3 external drives to your console.
