Hopefully no one purchased it on the Ultimate Game Sale that's going on now. That would create some salt I'm sure. lol

 

I've got the game and quite like it but I do think them keeping it for sale at the moment is a mistake. They are now making the console users wait for the large patch they've been promising for months as it's tied to this F2P update. It's only going free
on PC for now which is really a total kick in the proverbials for console users, especially as it's generally a bigger player base on consoles than PC, so they are effectively making the people who've supported them the most wait for the new and improved update.

Anyway hopefully if they pull it off then it will revive the game, it's got a steep learning curve but is really a good laugh once you get to grips with it.

 

With the amount of microtransactions this game had available on day 1 you would have thought it was free to play on release.

 

In fairness most other games are now following a similar pattern- most of the microtransaction were cosmetic and had no impact on the game at all, maps were free.

 

Well it's good that maps were free at least. Still, I decided to boycott this with my wallet. I still think selling all that cosmetic stuff even though it's not needed is dodgy. Just my opinion.

 

According to the Publisher "Evolve" was a commercial success but they did admit that their DLC model wasn't as clear as it could have been and acknowledged this hurt their sales.

This is a great game that many people missed out on because they didn't have the attention span for it and didn't care for Teamwork in their games.

If you already own "Evolve" then "Stage 2" gives you "Founder Status" which gives you access to everything you own already as well as new perks and incentives to keep you playing this new one.

Right now though, "Evolve: Stage 2" only exists for Steam.

I can respect that opinion for sure. But I have to say that I prefer the cosmetic stuff over map packs and other game content being paid. I know some who are totally against this set-up:

1) A game have a ton of cosmetic dlc for sale day one or at any time. But all map packs and actual game content is free.

Then at the same time they buy games and are fine with this:

2) A game that has a season pass as well as map packs, etc. that are sold separately.

The issue is that the second scenario very well could fracture the community and it does quite often. And is harder on smaller community games. The first scenario is just things that are not needed and do not change the game or give anyone and advantage.
So it keeps the community together while still provided the $$ that are needed to provide more content. That is why I prefer the first option. Plus, I never buy these cosmetic items so no loss for me.

Being a great game is definitely and opinion. And it is one I wish people I play with a lot had. Fact is, they just were not fans of the game. Got boring really fast and, in my opinion, just was not that great. I, as well as some I played with, enjoy
games that require a lot of attention. Twitch shooters, adventure, action, rpg, and on and on as well. But a good "thinking" strategy game is great as well and we play them. So it really is a stretch to say that people did not like it because of short attention
spans.

 

No I'd say it's a pretty fair statement.

It's also a generalisation so it would be unrealistic to say it applies to everyone who's ever played the game.
