Everything says connected to internet except Xbox

We had this old Xbox One that we had never opened, got it at least 3 years ago, but only opened it today.

I’m trying to set it up, but no matter which wifi I connect to, it won’t connect. I’ve tried my usual home wifi, connected it to the Ethernet, and even mobile hotspot. All three of them recognized the Xbox and allowed it to connect, but the Xbox itself keeps displaying the “Cannot connect to internet” message.

Someone please help.

That will be our last resort because even if we update the console offline we need to access the troubleshooter page still.

Kindly try performing the steps again and even if you don’t hear anything keep pressing and holding.

So what should I do now? Ive already downloaded OSU2 (yes I checked which one I should download, and according to the build I should download OSU2) and I moved it on to a reformatted USB drive, but even after plugging it in, I don’t hear anything. It says I should hear two power up tones within 15 seconds but I don’t even hear one aside from the original power up tone of booting the console.

Okay so now there are two problems.

One, I can’t even get to the startup troubleshooter, no matter how many times we’ve held pair and eject plus the power button and followed all the instructions, it boots up like normal and asks us to connect to the internet.

Two, I’m thinking plugging in an OSU2 file might help and might skip the startup troubleshooter for us. But the Xbox site warns us that if we’ve never connected to the internet before, we will need to connect at least once. WHICH MAKES IT USELESS BECAUSE WE CANT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET NOR EVEN REACH THE STARTUP TROUBLESHOOTER!

Please help, I’m so frustrated.
