Xbox One External Hard drive

Is the Seagate Backup Plus PORTABLE external drive too slow for the XB1?

Seagate sells the 4TB Xbox Game Drive. This drive looks very similar to its cousin the 4TB Seagate Backup Plus PORTABLE (and I write portable in caps because Seagate also sells the Backup Plus that is a bigger 3.5" external drive that needs external power while the portable model is driven by power from the USB 3 port itself).

When I got the drive I proceeded to format it on the XB1 and downloaded Gears of War 4 to it. The game launched without any problem but the music stuttered. I found this very strange and proceeded to move the game from the external drive to the internal on the XB1 and there the music and everything worked perfectly.

Has anyone tested one of the Seagate Backup Plus Portable drives on the XB1 for storing games on them? What are your results? I found this article on storagereview and it appears that the Xbox Game Drive is indeed a little faster on sequential read speeds than the Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB on the syntetic tests:

external hard drive no longer recognized after update

My Seagate external drive no longer is seen by the system since the update. I have gone through the USB drive troubleshooting steps. ANy other suggestions short of reformatting the drive?

Can you give us some more information. When you say "everything is gone from my seagate external drive", do you mean just games and apps? Or, were there other files (music/video/data) on the drive? I reason I ask is to reassure you that regardless of what
and how things happened, your games and apps are associated with your account and you should still be able to re-download and install them again.

Xbox storage as an external drive? No, there is a format barrier. Pc as an external drive? Yes, assuming you're talking about a usb external harddrive (like a seagate). You can transfer content and in the past I have played saved games from the ext drive
by its self. The only issue is that the disc is reformatted and everything previously written on the drive is "wiped."

No. It doesnt work like that.

If it's a Seagate drive you should be able to download SeaTools from Seagate's website an test the drive to make sure it's not bad. It sounds like you have a defective drive.
