Everything internet related is slow or does not work since I updated

I must agree with VigilantRex. As I said everything was working till I updated my XBox. Any other device is working with no connection looses or taking ages to get one. It seems that setting the static ip helped somehow, but it still takes ages to connect.

I see some other threads about network problems, so it is not just me or VigilantRex.

Trying all these suggestions (delete this, delete that, restart router, ...) is ok if it helps you find the causes for the problems, but it is not the solution. We had a running system before and as a customer I would like the same "plug & play" experience
again.

 

I am experiencing an like issue. Ever since I updated to the reverse comparability- windows 10 software -my Xbox one will not stay connected to the internet longer than five seconds. I would like to add the fact I never experienced such issues until after
this update. I can sit and watch my Xbox go online and drop, and no matter what I do it won't stop. I've restarted my modem, hard reset my Xbox, and I've tried all of the thread suggestions and they just don't work. I've gone into "network" and I notice my
NAT will not stay the same. It jumps from open to strict fairly often (roughly every 5 mins) and I get this "no services available" despite me being wired in. Of course nowadays every game I own requires an Internet connection so I can't do anything. I also
have a brother with a seperate Xbox one that is experiencing the exact same issue. He's wired into the same modem I am.

 

What modem would that be ?

 

Today I started my Xbox and an update could be installed. I thought "great, maybe this solves my problems". The update said 300 and something MB. Now it stopped with 233 MB remaining due to the network problems. I retried around 10 times but it does not
get a connection :-( :-(. As always, everything else is working

I am so tired

 

I did the update as well, and now I actually get photos of ads and whatnot before I randomly disconnect. My modem is an "Arris" cable modem, and all other devices work just fine. I don't understand why specifically the wired xbox one's wouldn't work.

 

Stop giving people the run around and admit something is wrong with the update you guys put out, get it fixed, so we can all move on and use what we are paying our hard earned money for. Issues like this was the i stuck with xbox vs ps beacause you guys
used to get these kind of problems handled before the whole xbox live community knew there was an issue!!!

 

Well, if your local network has the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and the Xbox "pulls" IP information from the DHCP server (on the 255.255.255.0 subnet) with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0, that would be impossible to do. How is this? Well, a client (e.g your
Xbox One) who, as of yet, has no IP address, needs to send a broadcast with destination IP set to 255.255.255.255 (all subnet broadcast address) on UDP port 68 and with its own IP address as the source which is all set to zeros. Now, the all subnet broadcast
address (255.255.255.255) can't be forwarded between subnets. This is what a router is used for, to forward traffic between subnetes. So this implies that the DHCP server must be in the same broadcast domain as the client, or in your case, your Xbox One.

In larger networks you would relay your DHCP server, but that's another topic.

To round things up, I just wanted to stop by and say:

"plug and play" is why we buy consoles and not PCs ...

 

I think the last update is even worst then before!!!!! (And I thought this was impossible). I downloaded the 330 Mb in 2 hours even when I've got 16 mbit connection. Now it looses the connection once per minute. This console is a nightmare. Why is it so
difficult to get a fixed hardware running? Shame on you Microsoft

 

@Mondrago85 - I'm curious. If you set your consoles IP settings to request IP settings from the DHCP server, can you once more post up the subnet mask that is associated with your consoles IP address. And if you pull up the command prompt on your computer
and issue the following command:

ipconfig (for PC)

ifconfig (Mac or Linux)

Can you post up the subnet mask associated with your computer IP address.

No. I am not using dynamic IP using DHCP. I use a static IP address. My PC has got 192.168.178.12 with the subnet mask 255.255.255.0. I set the XBox to 192.168.178.254 with the same subnet mask. Before I set the static IP address my XBox had 192.168.0.23
(this was after I had the first problems after the update). Setting the static IP address helped a little bit, but after installing the next update is much worst. Now my XBox disconnects every some seconds. I am afraid that if Microsoft delivers another patch
I will not be able to get it. Or can I somehow download it and put it on a USB stick?

My network connection with the XBox is useless at the moment.

by a stoke of luck I was able to sign in last night.

It still fails about 80% signing in on on start-up

but since the tech here on Chat told me to remove my profile - every game I try to play needs to pull a full sync of the cloud data. 3 attempts and 65 minutes later and I was able to get my Game of thrones file.

Tried for an hour to sync Forza6 data - no luck failed twice. I gave up.

Please keep in mind every other device in my network is performing flawlessly, PCs tablets Phones even the XBOX 360!

Also, I had the perfect "control" with a new Xbox one, new in the box. I plugged that in, it ran the set up and it had the same problem. - it's worse that useless because it doesn't have any games DL'd on it. It is unplugged from power.

What a lame way to spend the holiday weekend

 

ok, so I already post this elsewhere, so do not shoot the messenger if you already read it! I had the same connection problem since the recent upgrade (ugly IMHO) and after several attempts to fix it, I was suggested to add an ethernet cable between xbox
and router 1670A. before that the system was connected via a wireless system. after power synch both xbox and router, it worked fine for a couple of hours, then went to sleep, and I am going now to get back on it. it seems to demonstrate that the issue is
less about the router itself than the new upgrade messing up with wireless connection. deleting profiles seems to be a very wrong solution as it does not help with the connection issue, which will be a problem when trying to get the profile to download again.
I hope this is clear enough, questions are welcomed! I agree with mondrago85: give us back the same plug & play experience than before the upgrade!

 

Ok, my Xbox is working since 2 hours now. I think the last update did it. Yesterday after the update it disconnected every some seconds. Today I saw that somehow it was using WLan. I disabled the wlan in my router and started the xbox again. Now it is working
with ethernet cable.

Tomorrow I will try to use the xbox with dynamic ip address. If it works, it will be the stand I had before I updated.

I hope this was it. Thank you to anyone that tried to help, specially taidara.

This issue makes me feel bad about Microsoft. How could they release such a bad version to their customers? The expectations were so big because the same codebase with Windows 10 and then such a bad start
