Every Xbox 360 Game on Xbox One?

I was just thinking about this the other day.... When you start a backwards compatible game with the Xbox One, it loads up like a 360. Why doesn't Microsoft just make this a standard feature so you can play any 360 game?

It looks like these prices are basically the same as the xbox 360

Looking at Blockbuster - they list most games with an RRP of £49.99. EA games have an RRP of £54.99

Question about Microsoft's first-party games...

On the 360 or on the Xbox One? Every game is put up on the Xbox One digital store on day one, but 360 games might take a while to get there digitally.

 

There are still other coding issues they have to deal with in order for the games to run smoothly and properly on the One, so it's not that simple. They also have to work with the publishers to allow them to be compatible.

 

What Smwucthes said is spot on. They first have to get approval from the maker of said game to started porting it to work with the xbox 360 emulator that xbox one has (thats essentially all it is). If said developer says no then MS cannot legally start making
said game backwards compatible.

If they say yes the MS will the started recoding the game to work with the backwards compatibility feature of the game. Which can take time.

Black ops one would be a good example i supposed since thats been shown as 'coming soon' for like 3-4 months which from what rumors of heard is they are having issues with the frame rates.

 

To be specific, the Xbox team is creating a wrapper for the Xbox360 emulator in order to make the Xbox ONE think that you are playing an Xbox ONE game - in order to do that, they have to modify some of the code in the image of the 360 game... It's not nice
to modify someone else's code without permission, which is why they need publisher approval. The publishers are essentially the owners of whatever got originally submitted to Microsoft for quality approval.

You know, all of this could be avoided if MS included some kind of "right to re-publish" clause in publisher submission agreements, which would include standared royalty disbursements to whoever owns the publishing rights of said game, not to mention hold
them in escrow if rights are in dispute. Ultimately, Microsoft would be able to republish whatever they want from the back catalog, and publishers would automatically get a piece of the action as per the predetermined deal. I'd be shocked if this isn't
already in effect for Xbox ONE games to be redistributed on the "next" console.

It can be done, for can't never could do anything.

Disc copies of games came wrapped in xbox/sony packaging etc, thus devs couldnt say much about it.
