  1. Every 2 weeks I have to offline update my console!

    Hi,

Ok, can someone please help me!!!! every 2weeks I have to offline update my console,it use to be everytime there was an update!! but now it's every 2 weeks. I use my xbox everyday, I do not have gold, I don't chat with anyone, I only every play games! This
has been going on for a while but it was never this bad. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening. I do not need links to how to update, I'm a dab hand at this now, I have followed all the guides and I have factory reset it, which helps for a while.
My next step is to throw it through the window.

    Cheers in advance.

    :)

Watch for your console and a window. They are good in this bad times. Try this once:

    1. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

    2. Wait 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.

    3. Press and hold the BIND (controller sync button located on the left side of the console or bottom right if a one S or one X) and the EJECT button and then just press the Xbox button on the console once.

    4. Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.

    5. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

    6. The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

    7. To reset your console from the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter, use the D-pad and A button on your controller to select Reset this Xbox.

    9. When prompted, select Keep games and apps. This option will reset the OS and delete all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games or apps.

Maybe this way it helps. This bad situation with server overloads affects lot's of things. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for replying,

I had started to wonder if it was a harddrive issue, I'll get intouch with xbox but I have had this console 4 years now, so I doubt they will do anything, but it's worth ago.

So the update fails and then you need to download the update to a memory stick to do an offline update?

If that's the case seems that your console hard drive might be failing that is causing the issues.

My suggestion is to contact the Xbox support in order to see if your console would be eligible for repairs. Since you have already followed all the guides (I assume you mean the troubleshooting steps in the support page) I think contacting Xbox support is
your best way to move forward with this.

I hope that you can resume gaming without these issues soon!

EDIT: If you haven't tried out the method that CyclingCanoe703 suggested, definitely try that out too.

    Error 0x80072F8F. Console is bricked.

I am in the exact same situation mate. Haven't used my console for about two weeks, it was fine.

Turned it on this morning and greeted with the exact same errors.

I have exhausted every option they suggest to fix it, offline updates etc, with no luck.

Sounds like an update has rendered our consoles useless.
