  1. European PAL Support

    Hi All

I've just been asking Microsoft Support about the 50Hz PAL issue, and it has apparently been fixed in the latest update.

This will be my first ever console, and I want to get it right between XBox One and PS4 so that I can dump my old DVD player and consolidate.

I know that when both PS4 and XBox One were released they got both PAL and upscaling very, very wrong, but that there have been subsequent improvements.

Are there any Europeans out there who'd now be willing to comment on how good the PAL upscaling is?

Thanks for any assistance anyone can offer!

    Niki

    :)

The European repair centre will only have refurbished PAL consoles i would think so chances are that's why it says you'd get a European region console back.

  3. I'm planning to buy MS points..but there's a problem -,-

I'm planning to buy Microsoft points but actually I don't know what should I get European or American....

Some People say "look at your game Cover at the Top right under the Xbox 360 Banner you're gonna see a small box written inside of it PAL or NTSC if it's PAL then it's european and if it's NTSC then it's American"....Well mine is PAL > European

and Other People say " go buy Microsoft points from your Xbox 360 Console and then you're gonna see list of Microsoft Points Prices...if you see i.e. $9.99 then you get American and if it's in Euro mark "€" then you get European...Mine is "$" which means
    American......

Complicated....my games are PAL and my Shop Currency is U.S Dollar "$"?!?!?!?!?!!?!

how weird ...could you please help me..

I'd appreciate European PAL Support :)

    European PAL Support

Hi I believe you might never get a satisfying answer here cause everyone experiences the video quality differently.

One of my most important requirements on a multimeda machine is the silence of the box and I am very pleased about that on my Xbox One. I had a 1st gen Xbox 360 which was loud and it had annoying noises cause of the two interferring fans. I then had a PS3
fat which was way too loud to watch DVD or bluray on it. I still have a Xbox 360 E (last revision) which is far more silent that my PS3 but my X1 is nothing compared to them. You can hear it - yes - but due to its big fan and low rotation speeds it never gets
annoying even after 5 hours of exteme "Titanfalling" European PAL Support ;)

So skim through the forums and include this in your consideration to buy a new box. I don't want to make a PS4 bad - but I heared that is gets pretty loud when playing certain games and sometimes annoying loud when watching films.

Just tried out and watching my audio and video reference dvd "Gladiator" European PAL Support ;) and I did not experience any upscaling or other issues. The last time, I tested this on my now retired PS3 and I cannot see any quality loss.

    Xbox 360 warranty

    Hi there,

As far as I'm aware, it shouldn't make any difference. Consoles for Poland are PAL, the same as the UK, Germany and other European Xbox supported countries. I can't see how there would be a problem. The only difference with a particular European console
would be the type of plug on the PSU. The warranty should be supported regardless of what European Xbox region you reside.

    Xbox One Regions

I don't know how it is in the US but I can play NTSC games on my german PAL console. You just need a TV that can show both frequencies ! PAL games are a bit slower than NTSC games.
You've not been keeping up with technology. For Xbox One and Series X/S there are no PAL and NTSC formats. There no longer any PAL and NTSC frequencies either, certainly not over HDMI.
Also the Xbox One and the Series X/S are region free in terms of disc games.

PAL and NTSC are old analogue formats from the standard definition era. They no longer exist in the digital era.

Yes, back in day, NTSC was 60Hz and PAL was 50Hz, at least that was until the early late 90's and early 00's when European TV's adopted the 'PAL 60' format. Before PAL 60, all European games consoles going back to the earliest machines like the Atari 2600
ran games slower than their U.S counterparts. That's not the case anymore. European consoles have been able to play 60Hz (and hence 60fps) games since the Xbox 360/PS3 days.

European TV broadcasts are still at 50Hz, but this has nothing to do with PAL anymore.
