    Ethernet prompting xbox to shutdown


    I just moved into my college dorm and am trying to connect my xbox one to the internet via ethernet. It went online for a second but then randomly powered off. I have tried it numerous times and it continues to auto power off if the ethernet cable is connected.
    If I unplug the ethernet cable, everything is fine and it does not turn off. I know it is not a problem with the power supply and is something about the wired connection. Can anyone help?

    Downloading GTA V is taking FOREVER!

    I fixed the auto-shutdown, allowed background downloading and used Ethernet instead of WiFi - it's finally done! About 4 hours.....

    Do a full shutdown and unplug everying that connected to the xbox.

    #power adapter

    #ethernet etc

    Plug them back in and try adding the accounts again

    XBOX Turn Off, sometimes hangs

    Hmmm, when the prompt worked shutdown worked for me. Only when the prompt messed up it was a tip off that "Xbox On" was not going to work. I ended up disabling this so I could add a Xbox One activity on my Harmony Ultimate.

    Turn off your xbox and Unplug your Ethernet cord Turn it back on Declining any updates prompts that pop up and goto the dashboard->system settings->memory-> then click (LB RB X LB RB X) then click yes. Then your xbox will restart. Plug in your Ethernet
    cord and connect to xbox live. It will prompt you to update, update it. If this does not fix your issue than Unplug your Ethernet cord and goto the dashboard->system settings->memory-> then click "Y" and clear your system catch (spelled it wrong) Then restart

    I have tried shutdown, restart, soft restart but still cannot download any games as installation keeps stopping, I fear I will not be able go get fornite update. Xbox virtual bot not helping. Hope someone has an idea, thanks
    Are you using wireless or ethernet? in case of wireless, I suggest you, as additional step, to try an ethernet connection because is more stable, maybe a simple cable fix your issue.
