    Ethernet connectivity problems


    Hello,

    I was hoping to find help from the community as this has been extremely frustrating lately.

    I usually play and connect my Xbox One S via an ethernet cable using a specific port. Unfortunately it's severely inconvenient to continue using the port so i'm trying a different one. Previously it has 100% worked every single day on my laptop using this port,
    however the Xbox is not registering the ethernet cable is even connected. I've already tried power cycling, resetting my modem, I even purchased a new ethernet cable. It connects for around 5-10 seconds then goes back to telling me the 'Connect a network cable'
    error message.

    TL;DR

    Ethernet cable is not registering on Xbox One S, even though previously it used to register. Most methods of rebooting etc have already been used.

    Seddouk, very good question. I've done this many times, and rarely has damage to the Ethernet port kept me from connecting through USB to a Wireless Adapter. I think it's a good next step.

    I too believe that the Ethernet port on my XBOX360 has been damaged I will do with mo nassurance residential and if he refuses I will try to buy an adapter XBOX360.

    But I wanna know is that an adapter XBOX360 (wireless) will work too or not?

    If it's just the Ethernet port that has blown, it may be that the USB adapter has not blown it! ! !

    Then you would definitely need to send the XBOX 360 in for repair.

    Hello,

    If you're having this sort of problem and you've tried the following:

    Replacing the Ethernet Cable (or trying a different one)

    Directly connecting to the cable/dsl modem (without the router with a new Ethernet cable)

    Then that means that the Ethernet port on your XBOX 360 has been damaged. You will need to visit the XBOX repair site
    here and request a repair. If your XBOX 360 is under the 1 year standard warranty then the repair is free, if not then it's going to be a $99 fee for the repair.

    OBTW, lightning strikes on the phone or cable line can damage modems, routers, gateways and computers as well as the Xbox. Your homeowners policy may cover such damage.
