ethernet cable not being regonized

hi i just bought another 360 today brand new and the xbox wont reconize that there is an ethernet cable plugged into it. ive changed out my cord and still nothing. like i said i bought this BRAND NEW. and the port isnt being regonized at all. no matter what
i do the ethernet cords i have will not be reconized by my 360 they work when i connect them directly to my pc but not my xbox i even looked at the back of my cable/router and the lights go on when the ethernet cable is connected to my pc and they turn off
when they get connected to my 360. ive already tryied looking online for any fix but all i see is stuff about lighting storms and stuff. and thats not my prob with my 360 because we dont have any storms here. so its not because of lightning storms. any help
will be appriciated

ethernet cable not being detected

If using a different ethernet cable is yielding the same results, then I'm afraid the port and console will need to be repaired. You can use a wireless adapter, as Mythic suggested, but be sure to check your warranty status
here, to see if you qualify for a free repair. If you do, I suggest taking it while you can.

i found out that the eithernet port on my other 360 was burned out so i had to go back to gamestop and get another 360

This seems to be a common problem with some people after a quick Google search, and I haven't found really any glaring solutions.

The easiest course of action would be to just buy a Wireless Adapter for your Xbox 360, and just connecting it to your router. Since you already have a laptop, I'm assuming you have a Wireless Router. Sure, it's expensive, but really it's probably the easiest
way to fix the problem.
