Error: You're not allowed to make purchases with this account

Good Evening,

My name is Chris and recently I have been having some issues with Xbox Video. Whenever I attempt to make a purchase on my Xbox 360 console it gives me this message "Error: You're not allowed to make purchases with this account." and when I try
the accessing it from my computer I get this message "Sorry You cannot buy or rent videos, nor can you redeem codes because these actions are restricted to adult accounts." or "Sorry Purchase of this content is currently not allowed for child and teen accounts.".
I find this strange since I have never had difficulty purchasing content from Xbox Live before. I have tried buying a couple of movies and they have given the same error message. I am also unaware if it is also blocking me from purchasing games as well, because
I haven't checked. I'm trying to pay for it using a pre-paid card so I know I have enough to buy it.

I have tried numerous solutions

1) Clearing my system cache

2) Attempting to purchase from computer and console

3) My parents have moved me from my to adult status to child to an adult again to see if that would fix the problem

4) I've waiting 48 hours to purchase again and still failed

Please help me, I have permission to buy content but Xbox Live won't let me. I have never had this problem before in my years with Xbox Live and am curious to why it has suddenly occurred.

I'm getting the message "You're not allowed to make purchases with this account" but I'm an adult account.

I'm not allowed to make purchases from my account from the movies and tv app... I'm the owner of cours whose account is in charge and have no content restrictions. It lets me purchase games but not movies.... someone please

 

How old are you? If you are under 18 then you cannot be moved to an adult status. Also, you cannot be moved from adult to child status.

They should be able to change your permissions from here.

I am 15 years old. However my parents have given the permissions on my account to purchase content, but recently I've been getting the error seen above. My account is a child account but I've always have been able to buy items with no issues until now.

 

Ok, have your parents check the link I provided. Xbox have been making a lot of security changes lately and you may have been affected.

If they changing those permissions do not solve the issues you are having then I'm afraid that you'll just have to wait until you turn 18 or have one of your parents purchase the items on their account.

 

My parents have changed my permissions and it still doesn't allow me to purchase things on Xbox Video. However, I was able to get the 'Games with Gold' that was released and re-download old purchased games. Is there anything else I can do besides waiting
3 years to buy a movie and what am I to do with the $50 I have on my account, Is it now useless and I've wasted my money? Please respond.

Sorry but if your parents have adjusted your permissions and you still cannot purchase the movie that you want then there's nothing more I can suggest. You could try having them contact phone support to see if there's anything more they can suggest to free

As for the money in your account you should still be able to use it to purchase other items such as games or DLC.

 

It's a shame I can't purchase movies on Xbox anymore, because that is where I would usually get digital content. But thanks for trying, I really appreciate it.

 

i have also been having the same problem i feel that maybe it has something to do with the gamer tag which i will try changing and seeing if that has any effect.
