Error with Bing on IE for the Xbox 360

I have been a regular user of Bing on the Internet Explorer app on the Xbox 360, but a couple days ago an error started to appear. Normally, I have been able to click on my current points on the main Bing page and it will come up with a pop-in box that displays
the points I have earned and what offers I haven't completed. Now however, it instead brings up a pop-in box with a picture of a sad panda who spilled his/her ice cream with a message that it isn't me, it's an error with Bing and it should be resolved shortly.
Since it has been a few days, it doesn't seem like it actually will be resolved shortly. This error seems to have started when the Guardians of the Galaxy punch card offer showed up, even though the offer itself doesn't seem to contain anything that should
be preventing the box from displaying correctly. It's not a grievous issue yet, but it does make it a lot harder to know if all of the searches I have done for the day counted, since I can't see the number of points that I have earned for the day out of the
maximum for the day.

Is this really an issue on Bing's end that just hasn't been resolved yet, or is it another case of something being changed or added to Bing that has made another function not work correctly on the Xbox 360 IE app. Also, do not say to delete and reinstall
the app as I have already done that.

Microsoft Account Page Incompatibility

Two nights ago I discovered an issue when I was using Bing and Bing Rewards on the Internet Explorer app on my Xbox 360: when I tried to go to my Bing profile (now lumped together in the Microsoft Account page), I received an error message about the Microsoft
Account page having content that is incompatible with the "out-of-date" version of IE I am using, and that I should download a new version of IE. Of course, that is an impossibility since IE on the Xbox 360 only functions when fully updated, and won't let
me download things through it, including itself. As said before, this issue showed up two nights ago, and that exact page was working just fine for weeks before this happened, and I am not seeing any actual changes to that page that have been made from before
two nights ago to the point where the error message started showing up. This message shows up whether I am using the mobile version of the site or not, though I did notice that using mobile mode didn't actually change anything about the Microsoft Account page,
it was the same either way, so this might be why the message is showing up either way.

This isn't a major concern since I can still see my point total and any offers by going to the Bing homepage out of mobile mode, but still it was nice to just be able to click on a link and go to the profile without having a pointless error message showing
up, especially after dealing with almost a year of an issue happening with the Bing profile page before the switch to Microsoft Rewards.

 

Xbox 360's latest update rant!

Quick search via Bing for 'Xbox 360 preview program' shows clearly that on March 2nd 2015. Major Nelson did in fact announce a PP for the 360.

I would post a link but cannot do so while using IE via the 360.

360 users: In order to get IE etc, etc, etc to launch. Wait until the app shows (Play now) and 50% of the time the app will then launch. If not, click B and try again.

It's the only way I have found to launch them on the 360.

 

Hey Thrawn526! Do other accounts have the same issue on the 360? Additionally, do they display properly on a PC or other device? Post back and let me know!

Don't use other accounts on there, so I can't confirm nor deny that. The box does display properly on computer though.

 

Hey Thrawn526! I would suggest creating a new account and trying it on the console. This will tell us if the issue is with your account or the site. Give it a shot and let us know how it goes!

The problem has resolved itself. This seems to coincide with none of the punch card offers being offered, so it does seem possible that there was a connection.
