    Hi all, first post here.

    I've been trying to purchase backwards compatible games through the store recently (Modern Warfare 3 and Halo Reach), and I continue to receive this message. This is a screenshot from my Mac where I tried to purchase it through the Xbox website. This isn't
    an issue with the console, and I want a resolution. I've tried calling and chatting with Xbox support, and although there were times where we thought we had fixed it, nothing changed. Let me know if you've dealt with this or any solutions you may have. Thanks!

    Can't buy Xbox One Backward Compatible 360 Games - Error

    I figured out why this error was occurring.

    This error occurs if your Xbox Live subscription has expired and try to purchase a backwards compatible game. It would ba appreciated if you put a proper error message up there for customers in this situation - "Sorry, you must have an Xbox Live subscription
    to purchase backwards compatible games" Or something....

    I keep receiving error code 0x803f8001 when attempting to play the game. I own the disc & have it installed. I also have received a message several times stating the game isn't backwards compatible?

    What exactly happens when you attempt to sign in to the account that has made the purchase?

    And just so you know, while Game Pass includes backwards compatible 360 games, Game Pass does not work for the Xbox 360. It is only for the Xbox One at the moment.

There may be a few reasons why a purchase is not being processed, but this game does not look as though it is backwards compatible for the Xbox. This may be the cause of the purchase not going through for you. For a full list of titles that would be compatible for your Xbox One X, please view Xbox Backward Compatible Games.

    to use a payment instrument or the currency on your account to complete the purchase? We have a support article regarding

    Xbox 360 marketplace purchasing    . It explains scenarios in which a purchase cannot be completed for an Xbox 360 game. Be sure to let us know the results!

    Xbox 360 Forza's should be on backward compatible

    When they first announced backwards compatibility they said that they would attempt to get the most popular games and Microsoft published games into the program.

    While not absolutely the most popular titles the Forza series is owned by Microsoft so there isn't a third-party they have to deal with to make the games backwards compatible.

    Instead, most of the backwards compatible games began with arcade games and games most people have no interest in. The program is getting better every month but it's lacking the Forza series. I'd love to see FM3, FM4, and FH backwards compatible.
