Error when trying to enable 5.1 surround - 0x80bd0009

Hi, me again.

When I try to enable 5.1 uncompressed in the Display & Sound settings I get the above error code. I have found similar posts that state that changing the TV connection to HDMI from HDMI (Auto) should fix it but that makes no difference in my case. My Xbox
is connected to a Sony str-dn840 receiver with the supplied hdmi cable. Anyone have any ideas?

Getting error code 0x80bd0009 when trying to switch audio to 5.1 on my Xbox One S for my Z906

I got a Logitech Z906 5.1 surround system set up on my Xbox One S using a digital optical cable plugged straight into the Xbox. I'm trying to switch the audio to 5.1 under settings, but i keep getting a error message displaying 0x80bd0009 and it will not
switch to 5.1. Does anyone know how to fix this?

 

Dolby Atmos and LG OLED 55C7V

Bad audio issue: Tv LG OLED 55 c7v, Xbox One X getting error 0x80bd0009 while trying to select dolby atmos for tv or headphones. All other audio-video options are perfeclty working (for example I can select Dolby Surround or DTS Surround bitstream).

Any help?

 

Turns out I'd only read some of the instructions. I'd changed the setting to HDMI from HDMI auto but I hadn't changed the screen resolution to 720p. Once I did that I could change the settings with no error. Bit mad, but I'm glad it worked. You can change
back to 1080p afterwards btw.

I have a Sony sound bar and sub, so I need the sub channel. My sound bar supports HD codecs and bitstreaming, so it would be optimal if the XB1 would bitstream DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD, but for now, 7.1 uncompressed LPCM works fine. I'm sure 5.1 would
be sufficient, but for those movies that have 7.1, I'd rather have my sound bar do the downmixing. It's probably better for the surround effect if it's downmixed once instead of twice.

 

Just got this problem today, noticed my Sony STR-DN840 was outputing PCM 2.0 and couldn't for the life of me figure out why the Xbox reverted to Stereo. Same error message. Thought it was a preview build of the OS causing me grief.

Moved to HDMI 720 as you suggested, changed the audio to Bitstream Out / DTS and then put the resolution back to 1080. Looks like its taking.

No idea why this works, I know its both signals are in the HDMI, but why would this happen and why the resolution change fixes it is beyond me.
