Error when trying to change payment info to a gift card

Hi there,

Remeeming errors can be caused by issues on the account itself. Be sure to check if your billing information is correct at
http://billing.microsoft.com and also check
http://account.microsoft.com/services for any outstanding amount issues, these need to be sorted prior to being able to redeem codes.

After that try redeeming the code on both xbox console and via xbox.com/redeemcode

Also check that the Xbox Live account, the console and code all match region wise, using different regions for any of them cause issues too.

If you can't find anything wrong and it is still not working, best thing to do is to contact official Xbox Support via Phone or Microsoft Support Chat at
http://support.xbox.com/contact-us they can do a more indepth look into this issue.

Lately, Xbox Live and Xbox.com have been having some server errors, but keep trying. Once you are in, you can update your payment info with a valid credit card. You cannot use a prepaid gift card to reactivate your Xbox Live membership. This suspension
usually happens when a credit card (in this instance, your paypal), is charged, renewing the membership, but is later declined. Xbox will automatically try to authorize the payment again, and if it fails, your membership is locked.

You should just be able to add the card info to your account, then when you make the purchase, select the gift card as the payment option.

I could be wrong though.

When you go to the checkout screen there will be a change payment option. Select it then select your Microsoft balance as payment type

after that tell me to pick a payment method ( card..., PayPal and redeem a gift card )

i got the same error when i try to add a new card to the payment options. i have to put in all the info then when i click done it gives me the error message
