Error when redeeming a xbox live gold code

Hi everyone

I have a serious problem.

I've bought a xbox live gold code for 12months xbox live.

Everytime I try to redeem it, I get an error code. It says: "Something happened at our end, waiting a bit might help".

This happens everytime, I tried to redeem it the whole week but I keep getting the error. I also tried to redeem it using the xbox.com site or on the smartglass app. Nothing seems to work..

I paid quite a bit for this code, the code should work properly because I can see what I get when putting in the code. The message that if I want to redeem a 12month xbox live membership does appear. But by pressing confirm I get the error code I've explained
in the beginning of this post.

Can somebody please help this fellow Xbox-gamer going back online? :/

I purchased and have received and redeemed the codes for the games but seem to be getting an error code trying to redeem the 12 Month Live code.

Any ideas? It just suggests trying again later.

Hi there,

Remeeming errors can be caused by issues on the account itself. Be sure to check if your billing information is correct at
http://billing.microsoft.com and also check
http://account.microsoft.com/services for any outstanding amount issues, these need to be sorted prior to being able to redeem codes.

After that try redeeming the code on both xbox console and via xbox.com/redeemcode

Also check that the Xbox Live account, the console and code all match region wise, using different regions for any of them cause issues too.

If you can't find anything wrong and it is still not working, best thing to do is to contact official Xbox Support via Phone or Microsoft Support Chat at
Contact Us | Xbox Support they can do a more indepth look into this issue.

Error Code: 8016A0FA – Appears when you try to redeem a gold membership card on your account and are unable to do so because you already have the maximum 3 years (36 months) of Xbox LIVE Gold time.

When you get the 2 year mark with your gold subscription time, you will then be able to redeem that code on this account.

I have the same error when redeeming the 12 month gold membership code, on My Account page on Xbox live website.

I have tried from the console and website.

Error Message on Xbox 360 cosole: This code isn't valid. Please enter a valid code.

Sorry for the issue with your code. So you redeemed a Xbox live code on your phone? When you try and play grand theft auto it wont allow you to? Do you get an error saying you need live? Make sure you are logged onto the same account as you redeemed the
code on.

Check this and please provide any error what site you redeemed code on.

I'm having the similar error message when redeeming my code. My gamertag and billing option is set to Philippines, and the xbox live gold card or rather code is bought online from the UK. But when I try to redeem the code, it will show the similar message
saying Something Is Wrong and all that.. What may be the problem?! D:
