Error when launching games through the Xbox app (Windows 11) from an external drive

Пытаюсь запустить игру через приложение Xbox. Игры установлены на внешний диск (D. В настройках Xbox тоже стоит установка игр на диск D:

При запуске игры возникает следующая ошибка:

Перенос игры на диск C: решает вопрос, но хочу запускать игру с внешнего диска. Поиск по интернету результатов не дал. Явно проблема в том, что система не понимает, что искать GameLaunchHelper.exe надо на диске D:, а не C:

Trying to run a game through the Xbox app in Windows 11. My game had been installed to the D: drive (external HDD).

Transferring the game to drive C: solves the issue, but I want to run the game from an external drive. Obviously, the problem is that the system does not understand that you need to look for GameLaunchHelper.exe on the D: drive, but not C:

Are you enrolled in the Xbox Insiders for PC program by any chance? This is a known issue and is being worked on.

The ask is for Insiders who are experiencing this problem to report a problem through the Xbox App directly after attempting to launch the game.

To report a problem from the Xbox App:

Select your profile icon inside the Xbox app on the top right
Select Feedback
Select Report a Problem from the pop-up window
Select Give new feedback and follow the directions to provide the information about the problem

To answer the question ahead of time: no, I don't have a timeline for you of when exactly this should be fixed, as the issue is still being investigated. I hope this helps.

Windows 11 beta channel might be refusing to play nicely with your drive selection. My dad (I havent had the guts to upgrade to Windows 11 on my any computers) upgraded to Windows 11, and some things work, some things wont.

Further, I have never had any issues switching drives when installing games. In fact, on my Surface Pro, I have managed to install and play many games on an external drive and memory card. So, the Xbox app is pretty solid when it comes to supporting multiple drives, even external ones.

So, ultimately, putting one and two together, I would say, you took a risk by upgrading to Windows 11 beta channel. This is perhaps, one of its effects. You could wait for Windows 11 updates to fix these issues. Or, go back to Windows 10 where things will work as expected.

The XBOX app loads fine, but the games will not launch or install. When I click on the Play button nothing happens. When I click on install it just hangs at "preparing".

I re-installed Windows 11 from a USB drive on a wiped SSD.

I would try to do a clean install of the system, mate. I haven't installed Windows 11 yet waiting for the launch but I will copy the system image to a flash drive, save the important files on an external hard drive and format the hard drives and install Windows. I like to do this so as not to bring anything buggy from the previous system.
