Error when connecting to Multiplayer. "There was a problem checking your account privileges"

Please double check your privacy settings from here:
https://account.xbox.com/Settings

Allow everything, once you do it.
Sign out from your account in the game, sign in and test again multi-player

I allowed all privacy settings like you suggested but am still having the issue.

I got the game's multiplayer to work using the same Microsoft account on another PC, so the problem is definitely stemming from an Xbox Live client-side setting on my home PC.

I reinstalled the Xbox App, Game Bar, and Microsoft Store with no luck in-game. Fresh out of ideas...

Thanks for sharing that, at least we know that your account is not the problem.

Are you able to use a different wifi network to see how it goes?
For example sharing mobile data via wifi hotspot and connect your PC in that way

If you're not able to do it right now. Let's try instead creating a new local administrator user in your PC :

After that try running the game from there with your account

Are you the primary user on the computer? Do you perhaps have another account that has full Administrator privileges? As Mister Parks was referring to, this error occurs when an account without Administrator privileges attempts to install the Zune software.
Can you check to see if another account on your PC has those privileges, and try installing it from that account?
