Error trying to download/apply update. Unable to bypass it and go to dashboard.

What you've tried: I have tried pressing all the buttons and combinations I could. I've tried the manual reset by holding "Y+ Right trigger" as the system boots up. I've tried updating it using a USB Flash Drive and CD.

When I turn my Xbox 360 on, it goes through the logo/start-up part then goes to a white box that says "Applying Update" (though my Xbox is not connected to the internet). Then it will show the error and the error number. It won't let me do anything else
after that and will stay there no matter what I try to do. It was working just fine the time I had it turned on before this.

Dashboard update error

for the last two dashboard updates i have tried everything to download them, but they always come up in an error. should i just take it to gamestop and get a new one? i haft to find someway to bypass this or else i cant connect to xbox live.

 

unable to download exsisting netflix account after update

Before the update I had and used a netflix account on my XboX, my live membership, netflix membership and internet are working fine, but when attempting to download netflix app after the update to dashboard I am unable to download. No error code is given
as is any reason why it will not download, it simply says I cant download.

 

Clear HDD cache? Boot without HDD?

 

That error code suggests an issue with your storage device.

If you have multiple devices remove them all and try the update with one at a time in. If you only have one storage device then it may need to be replaced.

 

I don't have a storage device or a HDD for my Xbox, I have an 8GB USB Flash Drive I can use but I'm unable to get any where on the Xbox to configure it to work with it.

 

Hi, is your xbox the 4GB model maybe. If so it could well be the internal memory unit has failed which would mean sending the xbox in for repair.

No. It is the 2007 Xbox 360 Pro 60 GB. The previous owner gave it to me without the 60 GB external hard drive and am unable to do anything with it as of yet.

When it boots up, it show the Xbox 360 logo like usual then goes straight to a black background with a white box that says "Applying System Update...", with a status bar below it. Then 2 seconds after it give me the error message.

I see. Then you would need to get a storage device for the console. Whether it be a usb or official hard drive. That is the reason that you are unable to apply the required update.

 

Like I said I tried all of that. I tried using a 2 GB, 4 GB, and an 8 GB flash drive configured and tried without it being configured. I also tried downloading the update to the flash drives and a CD and it still did the same thing. I just don't want to
have to pay for an Xbox HDD and it still not work right, since it costs out of my pocket to send it in to get it fixed.

 

Hello again, just a thought but could you maybe configure a flash drive as xbox storage on a friends xbox 360 and then use that on your xbox.

 

Without getting an Xbox 360 hard drive for the device it is difficult to tell if the console will need to get repaired or not. Have you tried your local gaming store? If you live in the US check GameStop, they may have a used Xbox hard drive fairly cheap.
