My problem is that website and seller are telling me to find out the date of when the code is redeemed in order for them to give me a refund. This whole process looks like a scam to me but wanted to ask the question just in case that this is a legit request and would like to get the working code.

May I ask where did you purchase the code from?

I didn't buy the code per se but was asked to find a solution to this problem from my friend.

He bought this code from a website called K4G.com and when we talked to their support about this issue they told us to find the date of when the code was used in the first place in order for the supplier to give us another code.
