    Error reading game content


    In short, I can no longer play Destiny 2 without the game inevitably crashing and my Xbox One giving a message saying "Error reading game content". This can be temporarily fixed by uninstalling, clearing cache and reinstalling the full 100GB+ game, however,
    it's not lasting even 24 hrs now. The error returns every single time.

    I posted on Bungie's forum as you can see below (explained what happened in more detail) but nobody seems to have an answer and after much research online, it seems there might be a problem with my hard drive, which would mean I need to send my device over
    to Microsoft.

    My biggest issue here is: everything else works fine, every app and every game installed run as they should and it is only Destiny 2 giving this issue making the game effectively unplayable. Will I really have to pay for full service/replacement when it's
    only this one game? Is there really no other solution?

    I have been having the same problem as well. Its been happening for weeks. Now its to the point where i cant even play for 10 mns without the “problem reading game content” appearing and then it takes me to the home screen. I have noticed that his issue
    has been heppening aince 2018 with other people. I have tried every method to fix this. It only happens with Deatiny 2. All of my other games are fine and bungie has yet to mention anything about this and isnt reaponding to anyone. They seem to be just ignoring
    the issue. I wouod juat like to be able to fix this and play the game that i paid for.

    all I'm trying to do is tell them that I keep getting the 1317 error memory error code on Call of Duty and I can't fix it. I think I fixed it once and then when I woke up the next morning it was worse I tried to delete these two things on save data it's
    my data and it's a modern warfare thing saved and it just keeps coming back and I think that's the problem I I deleted the game and loaded it again I made another profile so I could sneak back and sneak back

    If you’re sick of Destiny 2 crashing on Xbox one X with the “error reading game content please close the game and restart”, I found a fix. I’ve been experiencing errors and crashing repeatedly since I installed the game on my Xbox. To fix the problem,
    go to Xbox settings > storage > delete local games and select delete. THIS WILL NOT DELETE YOUR GAMES OFF THE HDD. Your console will reset and shut down. When you power back up sign in like usual and select D2 and it should be fixed. Feel free to message me

    Yes, it didnt really make a difference. Worked for about an hour and same thing happened again.

    Hi there,

    have you tried installing the game on an external storage device, to see if that makes any difference?
