Error: must have Xbox 360 hard drive to play Destiny

Hello! So I just bought Destiny for Xbox 360 today, and I'm having an issue with getting it started up. Before now I've been using an external hard drive for my Xbox's memory for saving games etc. It has well above the required 20 GB that Destiny needs
to play, but an error keeps popping up whenever I try to go into the game saying "You need an Xbox 360 Hard drive to play Destiny". Do I really have to buy a new hard drive for like $100 to play this game? Will my external hard drive just not work? Please
help!

Destiny on XBOX 360. Must have 360 Hard Drive

XBOX 360. The game Destiny will not load. Error you must have an xbox 360 hard drive in order to play. Loaded game on USB 16GB like other games. Console has 3GB drive. Have used USB to load other games. FarCry4 GTA5 . Can I play game? Or send it back?

 

External HD issues

I have attached an external HD. I can see it in system settings. I have formatted it. However whenever I try to play Destiny, I get the error message "You must have an Xbox 360 Hard Drive in order to play Destiny." Don't know what else to do.

 

You may have to end up getting a Xbox 360 hard drive. I would recommend reformatting the hard drive, but you would need to back up your files somewhere.

 

Its not an issue with the hard drive, its the fact that it is usb. Destiny is looking for a hard drive and the Xbox 360 is not setup to recognize USB Hard Drives as actual hard drive just as USB storage. I would assume Destiny wants a hard drive due to transfer
speeds, a hard drive would be faster than something on the the USB port on the 360. There are other 360 games that will not load to a USB connected device as well. You could get an older and cheaper hard drive(I assume you have one of the new models with internal
hard drives because of the price you quoted). I use an old 120GB hard drive with my S model 360. It is not hard to do but I am not sure if I could post how to do that on these forums but it is something to look into.

 

Check ebay or other sites like that. Hard drives are DIRT cheap. I have a 120GB one that I thought would be worth some money. But they are about 5-10 bucks online.

 

So will a flash drive work as well???? Just wondering

 

Flash drives won't work you need an actual hard drive for the game to run.

Wait, so they're really going to make people have to buy a new hard drive? I'm in the same boat with Walter..I've never touched my xbox's hard drive..I've only used an external one that has never had anything wrong with it before..Bit *** that my sibling
can't play his new gift :/

 

i bought the game for like 60$ and when i play it it says it needs an xbox 360 hard drive i do not want to pay no 125 dollors for a 125 gb thing that god knows if i am ever going to use so much on it on and now i am *** for not being able to play destiny....

 

So I bought the slim external hard drive on amazon will that work since it's a hard drive?

 

Get an old xbox hard drive remove the drive from the plastic shell and splash bang kaboom got yourself a new hardrive and their dirt cheap

Also, if you have a 360 HDD, why would you use a flash drive?! The Xbox 360 will allot 32 GB for external hard drives, no matter what the size of the external can hold. I'm assuming this is also why Destiny will not allow external hard drives to be used,
since the game will go past that allotted 32 GB.
