    Good morning

    First apologies I am new to all this gaming but need some advice. My partner recently brought an Xbox and has enjoyed playing other people. However over the past few weeks he has not been able to connect and has been getting this message and it is still happening past the scheduled completion date.

    Any suggestions to what to do as like I said we are novices to this

    Okay, don’t worry. I’ll try to help here.

    Exactly what does it say when you try to connect online? Post back a photo of this message if you’re able to. All error codes have various meanings and causes so this would help pinpoint and identify the reason, hopefully finding a solution.

    First, try another network if possible - a mobile hotspot, perhaps? If you’re on a wireless connection, try a wired connection (or vice versa) to your console.

    Any security/safety settings enabled on your router? Keep in mind that an Open NAT type is always ideal and preferred as this would affect whether you can play with others.

    Refer to these support guides to troubleshoot your connection:

    To be more specific with troubleshooting, may I know your ISP? I ask this because there’s sometimes parental controls and other limitations set up by them by default. It would be best to ask your ISP and/or router manufacturer for assistance with this.

    If you’re able to successfully connect online in other games, this indicates the game itself (and not your network or anything) is most likely the issue. You’d want to contact PUBG Support (submit a ticket and they’ll get back to you via email after a few days) if this is the case.

    If this persists, contact Xbox Support, especially if this occurs with other games. Alternatively, you can reach out to the support team on Twitter @XboxSupport - they should be able to point you in the right direction if you send a DM.

    Also, just so you know, you need to reply to the IA’s response (select ‘reply’ as you’ve done with mine) if you would like their advice here. This is because they don’t see this forum in the same way (different platform), and can only see replies from you.     nicolabrowne, currently there's an ongoing SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE for a game on the Xbox Status, but for that one game alone, which would be The Elder Scrolls Online Tamriel Unlimited

    Apart from that, the services are up and running.

    Please, try one test on your console:

    Open the panel by pressing the Xbox button in the center of the controller.

    Scroll right on the panel to the System area.

    Select Settings.

    Select Network.

    Select Network Settings.

    Select NAT Test Type.

    Tell me what appears on this test, please.

    If something other than NAT Type: Open appears, please try this:

    Call your internet service provider, and ask them to open the ports described below on your router.

    Port 88 (UDP)

    Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)

    Port 53 (UDP and TCP)

    Port 80 (TCP)

    Port 500 (UDP)

    Port 3544 (UDP)

    Port 4500 (UDP)

    Also ask to disable and then, enable it again the UPnP function and if you have a modem and a router the process has to be done on both devices.

    Besides, ask them to put their console's IP in the DMZ zone configuration.

    (To find the Xbox One IP address, press the Xbox button to open the dashboard, go to System > Settings > General > Network settings, then select Advanced settings.)

    Also, one thing that might help as well:

    First, clean the cache of your console that way:

    1. With the console turned on, hold the XBOX power button on the console for 10 seconds until you hear a small sound.

    2. Wait 10 seconds.

    3. Turn it back on.

    Note: It may take a while for it to turn on, don't worry, it's normal.

    Then, restore your console keeping the games and apps:

    ***IMPORTANT*** If you share accounts with someone, you will have to redo the process of placing the account as the main one again, be aware of the chances you still have to do this, as Microsoft makes available per year, only 5 chances so you can make some account your console's main account.

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the dashboard.

    2. Select System > Settings > System > Console Information >

    3. Select Reset console > Restore and keep my games and apps.

    4. When asked to pull settings from an old Xbox, choose no, thanks

    5. You will have to log in to your accounts again, and when you sign in with your account, make sure you turn it has your home console also, that's it.

    NOTE: Rest assured, you won't lose games or saves

    To clarify, does your partner encounter any specific error code when trying to connect in-game, and does this occur with all games or only certain ones? Which console are you experiencing this issue on - Xbox One or Series X|S? Please specify the exact model, as well as any other helpful info.

    The screenshot you posted is the Xbox Live Status page - this shows any current outages and online server maintenance going on.

    Am I correct to assume you’re referring to PUBG Battlegrounds, or another similar game? If so, then the maintenance work was completed on the 12th January as expected. This is confirmed by the support team here:

    This was the update that he got when he wasn’t able to connect. However it has now gone past the maintenance completion date and he is still unable to connect and play other players
