    HELLO

    So I have a 5TB External Hardrive (Seagate).

    I use this as a media storage for movies and tv shows. Of which I watch through my xbox, since my tv doesn't support any drives over 2 TB. But recently (10/28/2017). My XBOX wont support the media files downloaded onto it. They're (mkv) files. Which is
    a type of media file XBox supports. I'm not super onto the tech side of things. So I hope I'm delivering as much information as is required.

    To test the theory of it being new media files I'm putting on my xbox. I went back and put the same file onto my hard drive, that I put on it before. A tv episode I already watched. This time sticking a duplicate on the hard drive. The xbox will not play
    the new file. But will play the old file, which was pout on the hard drive at (20/26/2017).

    So in conclusion I'm not sure how to fix this program. I've tried the following steps to fix it.

    Uninstalled Windows Media Player. Then reinstalled Windows Media Player.

    Performed Disk Cleanup on the hard Drive.

    I'm not sure what else to do. This is the error code I'm receiving by the way.

    Hey xUAx Shadow,

    I have tried Kodi and a few other media apps as well. Whenever I try to open any media file, MP4, MKV, MP3, I get something along the lines of "media cannot be played" depending on the application I am using. All these files play just fine on my PC, it's
    only when the drive is hooked up to my Xbox One that they don't work. It's only recent files too, it's an 8TB drive and there is still about 6TB of space left. Hope the info helps, thanks for the reply!

    Have you tried downloading something like the Kodi app? What is exactly the problem that your having? What type of media files are you trying to play?

    I have just noticed this too. This error is happening to files that the Xbox already played via the minidlna server, however, when transferred to external HD they will no longer play. My external drive is a WD 4gig. I am a little over 1/2 full with1.7
    gig available. All files getting this error on the Xbox all play perfectly on the laptop.

    If only Linux would create a game system!! ;)

    If anyone finds a solution, please let me know. Might try to see if the Xbox 360 will play them. hmmmmm.
    I couldn't Edit the original so.... It's a 4 TB, not gig!!! with 1.7 TB available.
