    just bought the Xbox for my kids, i have turned it on followed the instructions and when it wanted me to update initial updating it got stuck

    Error code:8B0500B6

    i have tried following the instruction online and downloading the OSU1.zip but it is failing every time

    any ideas???

    need your immediate help before my kids will kill me LoL

    This error occurs when you try to update whilst the Xbox servers are undergoing maintenance. The solution is to try again in a while.

    Continued.

    that is to say it would not connect to xbox live prior to attempting offline update

    System has since reset and cannot get past the update system portion.

    Code does not exist.

    if i were offering quasi tech support to someone, i would have at least verified this code existed prior to offering a solution. You may be able to tell i have reviewed posts and support documentation having gone so far as attempting an offline update.
    So please dig a little deeper and be more specific in offering support.

    i assume you refer to the network configuration. I can “connect” via wifi and lan. But system will not connect to xbox live.
