Error Code: 80151901

I have been having this problem where I can't sign into Xbox live on my Xbox 360. I keep getting error code 80151901, and when I test my connection it keeps having a problem connecting to my network. I have tried many things like using the factory settings
or whatever it's called, then I tried turning the power off on my router for 30 seconds, then I tried the initial set up, and still nothing works. My ethernet is still on, and my internet is still on. Can anybody help me with this problem?

Also, I just tried clearing my system cache, and it still didn't work. I usually let these problems fix themselves, but I heard people had this error for over 2 weeks now, and my Xbox Live Gold is running out REALLY soon, and I really want to use all of

Okay, I got more information, for one I am using a wireless network, and my ip address always start with 169 as the first numbers (I heard this is a problem) another thing is that my DNS is blank (not sure if this matters) another thing that is blank is
my gateway. Then the next thing under the ip address is just 255.255.0.0. I hope this helps with solving this annoying issue.

P.S: By blank I mean all numbers are just zero

Ah, that might explain the problem, a "169" IP address typically means that the device assigned itself an IP address as opposed to a "198" address which is assigned by the router. The "169" means that your Xbox console is unable to connect to your router.
Do you have it set to connect automatically using DHCP or have you manually entered in the information? What is your router setup? The DNS should not be blank, for this there should be an option to obtain DNS servers automatically though this will not work
until you resolve the "169" IP address issue. If that isn't available to you, just use Google's DNS servers which are 8.0.0.8 and 8.8.8.8.



Edit: As an added suggestion, try connecting your Xbox to your router/NAT via Ethernet cable instead of using wireless. My guess is that this will resolve the network immediately and your connection will be stable. We can isolate that it is an issue with
the wireless configuration on your console at that point. Also, sorry for the late reply!!

 

Yeah, I have it set to automatic, and about the eternet thing, I'm not really a person with a great knowledge on things, so I really don't want to mess with wires and plugging it into things. I have seen 2 videos on Youtube fixing this error without using
a ethernet cable, however they both do not work. ;/ Also by router set-up what do you mean? Sorry, i'm really not a technical person.

EDIT* It's getting really late here, so i'm going to resume trying to fix this annoying problem tomorrow. Feel free to give more solutions though.

 

Before I go I would also like to add, that this error came out completely out of no where. I haven't moved any thing, or changed anything that would cause issues with the network.

 

Understood. By router setup I mean the model of the router and any settings which you have manually entered; For example, is the network broadcasting it's SSID? Does the router have a firewall? Do you have port forwarding setup? Etc, etc. If you don't know
what the setup is, that is fine. Let's continue working on the assumption that the problem lies with your wireless configuration. To isolate this, you will need two things. First, you need an Ethernet cable, which looks like this:

ts1.mm.bing.net/th and secondly, your router needs to have an Ethernet port, which looks like this:

ts1.mm.bing.net/th.

Okay, that's fine. Go ahead connect your Xbox console directly to your router with the cable. If the problem persists even when it is directly connected to the router, try connecting it directly to your modem instead.

Let me know if either of those work or not!

 

Err.. for some reason the error code is gone... but I still can't connect to my xbox live.

EDIT: Nevermind the error code is back. I'm really getting sick of these errors :/

 

Even with the cable connected? That is strange. What is the first octet in the IP address when you are connected via cable? Also, did this error happen again when you tried connecting it into your router or was this into your modem?
