Modem brand & model number: Serial Number: 75BU49AX571384 It's some kind of comcast combo router modem thing.

Router brand & model number: No router.

If Wireless, are you using a white or black external adapter, or an internal (Xbox 360S) adapter? I am wired.

Things you have tried: I have tried restoring to factory,

Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/no/Unknown No idea what that is.

Any Error Codes you encounter: IP error.

Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)? Comcast

After you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" press “Y” for "More Info”. In the pop-up that appears, what are the following values, if shown? (If a value below does not appear for you, just leave it blank.) It doesn't make it here just says the test failed
and gives me the ip error.

Came home after a trip and now no internet.

Oops didn't finish. I reset the router\modem thing. I restored to factory. I reconfigured the network from manual to automatic.

When I go in it just says "UNknown" for all values under Network, INternet and XboxLive.

Sorry to hear that you're having troubles connecting to Xbox Live.

Let's start by checking the IP your Xbox 360 is receiving from your combo modem. Could you do the following:

1. Go to Settings > System
2. Click on Network Settings
3. Select your Wired or Wireless network connection
4. Select Configure Network

And from there, it should show you the IP address, Subnet Mask and Gateway. Could you please verify that it does show you that information?

Note: 0.0.0.0 is not a valid IP address, subnet mask or gateway.

It gives me an IP Address that is sensible.

Subnet Mask is 255.255.0.0

Bu tthere's nothing for the Gateway and nothing for the Primary or Secondary DNS Servers. They are all coming in at 0.0.0.0/

Could you change the Gateway to your combo modem's IP address and the DNS servers to:

Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8

Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4

If you don't know your combo modem's IP address, please follow these steps:

1. On your PC, go to Start and search for CMD.
   
2. Open CMD
3. Enter ipconfig
4. You should now see your Gateway. This is the IP address of your combo modem.

Subnet Mask is 255.255.0.0[/quote]If you refer 169.254.x.x as sensible, it is not. This address is known as a link-local address, or AUTO IP, which is an IP a device will assigned itself when it can't establish communication with a DHCP server.

Is your Xbox directly connected with your router? Or do you use a different set up?

I would also suggest that you try with a different LAN port on your router as well.

Ah okay, then it's not a sensible IP. I am linked from my xbox to a ethernet hub. We use the hub in this house because the internet can't extend from the first floor all the way to the 3rd. So all the people on the top floor including myself plug stationary
devices into the hub.

So I just connected from the actual modem\router to my xbox and it works which means either the hub is crap or my ethernet cord is bad. At the very least I now know my xbox hasn't died.

Did you say "hub"? Are you sure about this? Don't you mean a switch?

What's the make and model of this "hub" of yours?
