Error code 80151006 - Cannot download my Xbox Live Profile

I purchased a new Xbox 360 yesterday and downloaded my Windows Live profile with no issue.

I changed my gamer tag then redeemed my free month of Xbox Live Gold.

I was prompted to fill in my billing information and then prompted to re-download my profile.

Attempting to download my profile I get greeted with "Hi, <NEW GAMER TAG>".

It makes it to about 20% then I get this error code.

I spent over an hour on support this morning, tried everything that they suggested, even tried formatting the hard drive and setting up the console all over again. Nothing works. When I login here, it displays my old gamer tag. When I attempt to download
my profile, it greets me with my new gamer tag.

Now this is where it gets really fun!

I fired up Dark Souls and attempted to login to Gaming for Windows Live on my PC. I get an error message telling me that my Windows Live ID doesn't match and it will not let me log in.

Xbox support eventually gave up and sent me to Windows Live support who... gave up and sent me to Xbox support. 3 hours of my life wasted with no results.

Steps I've taken;

I've deleted my profile from the Xbox 360.

I cleared the cache.

I've formatted the hard drive.

I've spent three hours on support chat in one form or fashion.

I just really want to play some games with my son and not get hosed for the 15 months of Xbox Live Gold that I redeemed yesterday, or lose the library of GFWL games that I've amassed over the years.

80151006 Gamertag

every time i try download my profile it says error xbox live profiles cant be downloaded right now then this error code comes up 80151006...not fun when u cant play on your account.

Everytime I try to login to my xbox live profile error code 80151006 pops up ive tried talking to a representative and it was just a waist of time. Any suggestions on error code 80151006? Please help...

 

Hey there, I just had the same issue where it said "Hi ____" and gave up with error code 80090304.

I just fixed by simply turning off the system, connecting it to my router/modem via ETHERNET cable (NOT Wireless!!!), I then went to:

"Systems>Network Settings>Wired Network>Configure Network>Additional Settings>Restore to Factory Defaults. Followed by "Test Xbox Live Connection in Network Settings".

Now I was able to download the profile without the error. I am not 100% sure, but you might just simply be able skip the restore steps and just connect Ethernet cable and download again, this might work too.

This actually solved a view issues for my console such as:

- Not being able to access Apps due to server issue errors

- Not being able to download FREE content due to a payment/credit card error
